Owned this mower for 2 months. Cut 3 acres. Cut mowing time in half. Old craftsman is now retired. Kohler engine is great. Had one on the craftsman. Never had a problem. Change your oil every year or sooner. Love the way it turns, no more 3 point turns. Get to the end of your cut and quickly start the next. Took a cut or two to get to know how to move around things but it is easily learned. Should have bought one sooner. Price is better than most other manufactures for a 60 inch deck. Looked at other brands but Ariens was less expensive. My neighbor has a Xmark but cost $8000.00 Shopped around and bought this mower. Good price and works great.

The Arien's 60 in ZTR mower can cover allot of ground in a short period of time. I bought the 60" model to mow about 4 acres of yard. It can do it in 2 hrs or less. Even if the grass is long this mower still can handle and discharge of grass at a record pace. This mower is built well and comes in at over 800 lbs. The deck and rollers are professional grade. The Kohler engine has enough power to handle my mowing needs. The only item that I would consider old school would be the raising of the mower deck. The deck has a pedal to raise the deck and a series of pins to set the mowing depth. Though manual, there will be no failure due to an electric cylinder that may fail at some point.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by EWB48 Update to previous Review
I used my MaxZoom 60 for several hrs and continue to enjoy cutting the grass. I found my self almost looking for grass to cut. I have noticed a couple of issues since my first review. My main concern is the problem I forsee when I have to change oil filter. The Kolher Courage Pro 25 has a oil filter mounted horizontally on right side of engine. Problem is there is very little room to access the filter and I can see no way to remove it unless I take something apart to get acess to it. The second issue I have found is that there is a wireloom and push/pull cables that go from the engine to the controls on right side that penetrates the frame. These cables and wireloom are binding very hard against the frame and will result in premature wear and possible failure. All said this is still the best mower I have ever used.

The sales process was easy and delivery was next day. Excellent piece of equipment! I have 6 acres of lawn to mow and what used to take 6 hours on a standard rider now takes 2.5 on this beast. Love it!

Have owned my 60" for a couple years now and I cant say enough about it. It has a good ride, starts every time, has a good even cut, easy to do regular maintenance on, and cut my mowing time in half. With my old mower (54" wont say name) it would take me 4 hours to mow 10 ar. Can do it now in under 2 but this is bad because I enjoy mowing. Have caught myself offering to do my friends yards now. I shopped around for mowers for 2 years before I bought this one. Size to money it was the best deal to go with. Plus the Home Depot opion 6 year warranty was the best on the market for the price but from what I can see I dont think I will ever have to use the warranty. Couple things that I did wish had come withthis mower was a rollbar and deck clean out. Stuff I can add but it would have been nice to have these on their biggest mower.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by alex Don't buy an Ariens mower
I've had my Ariens 60" mower for two years now just for mowing my 5 acres and have had nothing but problems with it. A nightmare really. As an example within just six months the deck broke off the mower which took about six weeks to fix. While I got the extended warranty on it the company who services the mower takes two week minimum to pick up the mower and return it fixed. I would not recommend an Ariens mower to anybody as it is a real sub standard product.

I upgraded from a standard John Deere 38" mower to this Ariens 60" zero turn. I mow about between 2-3 acres on our property with many trees and shrubs to mow around. With the 38" it took me 6 hours. With this 60" zero turn it takes me about an hour and a half. I have had it now for over a year and have had zero issues with it. I only mow every 6-8 weeks because I'm always out of town. When I get home the grass is knee high, but this mower cuts it effortlessly. I even mowed an area of our pasture with grass and weeds shoulder high just to see what it would take to bog this mower. I haven't found anything yet.
Ariens is a great brand and makes great mowers, but there are pros and cons of owning any zero turn of this size, regardless of the brand. none of which i realized until I owned it.
A few pros are the huge engine has the power to tackle any grass without bogging. The zero turn maneuverability and speed combined with the big engine cuts mowing time down too a fraction of what it takes with a standard mower. The 60" deck makes a wide pass also cutting mowing time. Cuts weed-eating way down because of the tight maneuvering.
Two cons. One, after raining for a day or more, even after giving several days to dry, the dirt under the grass is still soft sometimes making it hard to steer because of the instant torque to the tires when it turns. This obviously is a pain to maneuver, but it also causes bald spots in the yard. Turning slower helps, but doesn't eliminate the problem. Especially if not on level ground.
Second, the 60 inch deck in it self has it's ups and downs. I got the 60 inch to cut more grass at one time obviously. What I didn't realize until after I used it for awhile is there are several areas of my yard it won't fit because it's so wide, such as between some shrubs where a 48" would. This isn't a major problem, I just feel like I would have to weed-eat less with a 48".
Even with that in mind I don't regret getting the 60 inch and would get it again if I had to do it over.
