Answer:
If you have a 2 stage propelled snowblower, then you should have skids shoes to allow it to move smoothly. It might actually save a little time as it will move more smoothly.

Answer:
Not required, but probably a good idea.
Any scraping of your driveway by the shoes or the scraper blades will loosen the surface stones of an asphalt driveway.

I just purchased Ariens Non-Abrasive Skid Shoes Model # 72600300 (Home Depot SKU # 999783) and they were sold as a pair with mounting bolts, nuts, and washers. I used to replace standard skid shoes on newly purchased Compact 22, Ariens 920013 (ser# > 35000).

Answer:
Measure the distance between your two attachment bolts. If they are 3" apart on-center, the skids should fit.

Customer Reviews

Rated 4.5 out of 5 by 26 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by These should be the standard shoes I bought my Ariens snowblower last season for use on our new concrete driveway. The snowblower did a great job of clearing snow, but the spring showed all sorts of scarring and scuffing of our new driveway surface caused by the steel shoes that were on my Ariens when I bought it. I was angry about it but determined I would find a way to prevent it this season. I was surprised to find these non-abrasive skid shoes. They make absolute sense, were easy to install, and have even made snow blowing easier. Ariens should have made these the standard and offered the steel shoes as the option! January 12, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Ariens skid shoes The skids are very easy to mount and the instructions for setting ground clearance are quite clear to follow. Skid's are also reversible for unexpected wear or tear. Saves a lot of marring on your cement drive and walks over the steel ones. Save the package they come in, fits the old steel shoes and mounting hardware nicely in case your environment changes. Well worth the price. October 28, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Should be standard Easy to install. Should be standard. Why would you want to scrap the ground with steel shoes when you can protect your concrete with these? November 26, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by ok snow shoes snow shoes were easy to put on this is the trouble with home depot January 5, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by great purchase had metal wheels on my snowblower due to the fact I had a gravel drive. had a concrete drive put in this year and didn't want to use the metal skids, and these fit perfectly and will not scratch my concrete. December 15, 2015
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Good Product Skid shoes seem to be of good quality. The bolts and nuts provided were somewhat difficult to install. They didn't thread easily. December 29, 2015
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Ariens Skid Shoe Kit These need to be longer so they will help snow blowers negotiate small differences in height on walks and drives. They need to be harder so they will wear longer on abrasive surfaces. December 15, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Works much better than the metal skids I actually purchased this for my 20 yr old Craftsman snow blower where the metal skids are rusted and worned out. I had to drill a new hole on each to make it fit. These skids worked really well. It slid smoothly on my not so smooth blacktop driveway. March 25, 2015
