This thing really throws snow far! Very impressed by engine too. It runs so smooth and is easy to start. I have yet to find a snowdrift that can snuff this badboy off!

For now, I will provide feedback on my Home Depot purchase & delivery of the machine. Later in the season, I will provide feedback on the performance. This model is NOT sold in your local store and can only be ordered online and delivered directly to your home. When ordering, I found a coupon code (BATH175RK) which knocked $175 off the purchase price. This reduced the price to the lowest that I could find locally or on the internet. Home depot email follow up on the order was thorough and provided a tracking number for the freight carrier. I was a little confused by the logistic details of how the blower would be delivered. Here is what happens. Ariens (Wisconsin) ships the machine using USF Holland freight company to an authorized location within a few hundred miles of your home. A tracking number was provided by Home depot for USF Holland. In my case, the shipment from Wisconsin to Detroit area only took a day and was easily tracked. The blower was shipped to a company called Altaquip in the Detroit area. Altaquip has over 20 locations across the country and is the main company which Ariens uses to prep their equipment prior to home delivery. Altaquip was very professional and courteous. They contact you via phone to advise that your blower has arrived in their facility and being prepared for delivery. They complete the assembly of the machine, put gasoline in and confirm oil levels. They ensure that the engine starts and that the machine functions properly. Altaquip coordinates a suitable delivery day when they call you; they gave me a few choices of days. Their drivers use larger panel trucks (21 foot semi) with lift gates on the back. The driver contacts you about 30 minutes or so before they arrive at your house. It is important to note that you MUST have a person available at the house when the blower is delivered; Altaquip will NOT leave the blower in your driveway without a person to sign for the equipment and take ownership. In my case the driver was hesitant to back all the way to my garage due to low hanging trees in my long country drive. He did get as close as possible, unloaded the unit off of the truck with the lift gate, got the signature handed me the operators manual and was on his way in about 5 minutes.
Once in the garage, I looked over the blower carefully and powered it up. There is only about 2 cups of gasoline in the gas tank and the oil was full. The blower starts flawlessly and controls worked - except for one. I did have a problem with the shoot adjust which needed to be tweaked a little to get proper operation. The skid plates came adjusted for a solid surface. I have a crushed rock/gravel drive. I know from speaking with other blower users that the skids should be adjusted to leave 1+ inch of clearance so that the blower housing does not scoop up rocks - especially in the early season before you have packed snow and frost in the ground. The owners manual package comes with 2 shear pins, a small bottle of gas stabilizer, warranty card, Briggs engine manual and Ariens blower manual. You will need to complete and mail the warranty card which is prepaid.
On my to do list before the snow starts to fly:
* Buy a few more shear pins just to have plenty of spares.
* Buy a nice 5 gallon gas can with good nozzle.
* Spray some silicone spray on the inner shoot and impeller areas.
Later this season I'll follow up with feedback on how this BEAST works. I'll add comments on how the 926038 handles and eats the lake effect snow that Lake Michigan dumps.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by Ben1 Great purchase.....
It's a great snow blower that was delivered to the house by a local Arien's dealer. Everything went smooth and I have no complaints. Upon delivery, the local dealer took the time to show me the safe operation of the machine. I'm very happy with the whole purchase and delivery process that Home Depot provided.

I've read 'em all... from all the different sites... review after review for all the big snow blowers. I checked out Ariens, Toro and Snapper, and settled on the Ariens. Out of the crate, it was easy to assemble. I've seen lots of feedback on how tricky the chute adjustment can be. I picked up a few tips on adjustment and I have not had any issues with the chute traveling, even in heavy wet snow. The Toro chute adjustment was easy when I tested it, but the Ariens works just fine if you're used to separate chute direction/deflector controls. Not a big enough difference to change my mind from the Ariens.
After I broke in the auger belt and did my adjustments, I tried the electric start... very cool and easy to use but it's just as easy to pull start and it's started on the first pull every time. There was an interesting comment on snow shooting out of the left hand side of the auger housing while plowing. I'll admit - I experienced a little spray from the left side as well, but it all ended up in front of me, so I was able to pick it right up again. The zero turn is amazing - as heavy as this unit is, it turns on a dime and I couldn't imagine going back to another unit without it.
I've got two decent snows behind me now and could not be happier with my decision. Power, power and more power. This thing performs even better under a heavy load, excelling at clearing that lovely mess the snow plow leaves at the foot of the drive. Bottom line - solid unit, tons of power with great features. I would recommend to this Ariens Pro 28 to anyone.
