If you've never used drift cutters, you probably have been working too hard when your banks build up and you finally decide to move them. Quality manufacturers accessory. Photos on website are of the basic model not the deluxe.

You don't need them all the time, but that one time you do it sure is nice. Now if home depot would sell the rest of the accessories for these blowers, ie, front blade weight, hand warmers, track conversion , I'd be even happier

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by 4398Mickey OK PRODUCT
Installation was only somewhat difficult because the Bolt on hardware was hard to bolt on. I had to use WD-40 and Water Pump Pliers to get it to thread on. After you've done it a couple of times adding lubricant it gets easier.

seems like a good product,.however they are nowhere near the size stated in the description that says 25"L x 5".W they are actually 191/2 L x 2"W. double checked the numbers to make sure they were the ones in the description that I ordered and they were ,but the size described is incorrect. they will work on my "smaller snowblower" but I wanted them for my large 32" bucket blower. not sure how they will perform on that. really was looking to have the extra 4 1/2 inches in length and the extra 3" in width as described.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by v123 Good drift cutters
What's there to say, they're drift cutters. They work as expected, and can be folded back out of the way when not needed. Quality and finish is good, except for the nyloc knobs included in place of nuts. In theory, this makes this a tool free installation, but in practice the knobs don't provide good enough leverage to overcome the friction in the nyloc insert, so tightening them properly is a chore. The design of the knob makes using a tool to gain more leverage difficult. Ultimately I did manage to get them sufficiently tight, but I'll likely replace the silly knobs with some standard nyloc nuts at some point this summer.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by maddfrog Great addition to my snow removal arsenal
These are a great add-on. Like others have mentioned, I found the knobs hard to turn and the bolts hard to keep in place while installing. I added a rubber washer to each bolt that serves two purposes - it holds the bolt in place and it makes it so you don't need to tighten the knobs as far to snug the bar up to the housing. I also think they'll help protect the painted finish when you rotate the bars in and out of the storage position. (the washers came from toilet tank bolts, which just happen to be the same diameter as these bolts)

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by JeffCav Great inexpensive add on
I got these shortly after ordering my snow blower. I figured that even though I live in Boston and we don't get nearly as much snow as other parts of New England, it would be worth having them in the long run and getting them while my snow blower is in production would be easier than years later.
I used them in my second season with this machine. Heavy high snow piled on the sidewalk meant that extending the cutters helped pull snow down in front of the machine.
These are really easy to use. If you're doing it right, you are only loosening he bolts enough to swing the cutter into position. If it seems like too much effort, you're doing it wrong.
These are well made and inexpensive.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Docbubba Well made, fits good, wonderful products from Ariens.
OK, so its just a couple of steel bars that are pre-punched to fit the holes already set up on the Arien snow blower intake housing. I am impressed with the quality of everything these guys make........ I am an old city guy, that has bought his first snow blower, because I am tired of shoveling the wet stuff for the last two years at my new home (retired) in the mountains........Ariens build really well made equipment and the paint job feels like its a 1/4-inch thick........ have not tried the rakes yet, its still to soon in the season, but it will happen, it does every year.
