Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by How the heck do you get the duct covers to attach? We just finished installing the unit. There were already ceiling supports so it was't too hard to attach. Pretty heavy unit but looks really nice. The BIGGEST problem is trying to attach the duct covers! It seems like that would be the easiest part but it's darn near impossible! The locking system to attach the upper covers are impossible to get to fit into the locking slots! We have been trying and trying for 2 days and SOOO frustrated! We have bent them, pushed as hard to get the back & front at the same time but it keeps popping out!!! We are going crazy!! DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY SUGGESTIONS? We are honestly thinking about gluing the darn things!!! The duct covers are just sitting there, unattached HELP!!!!! May 6, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Looks wonderful, works well, hard to install The finished product is easily the most elegant range hood amongst a pack of ugly competitors. It's beautiful. The fan does an okay job and the lighting is very nice. However, I hired a contractor to install it and it took him and a helper two days. He mentioned a few times that it was harder than he thought. He was a perfectionist, so maybe his experience is an outlier. So: Beauty - A Usefulness - B Installation - C May 19, 2012
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by this product makes a nice kitchen beautiful Great my only problem is my ceilings ,are 95" so u can bump your head if u don't pay attention,I'm still in the figure out stage May 9, 2011
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by stainless hood covers too long and very hard to modify The product might operate fine , we have not had enough time to see how it functions for its purpose however in installing the hood we encountered major problem with the stainless steel covers (too long). There are two stainless covers that slides in each other for height adjustment. The problem is that for older homes with a 7 to 8 foot ceilings even one of the stainless steel covers is too long. The other issue is that stainless steel is very hard to cut so one needs to use special grinder blades to cut it and it will still discolor and have burs right where you cut. Would need a redesign to allow installation for ceilings that are lower that the 9 foot used in new home constructions. November 10, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by This range hood looks great The island mount range hood is difficult to install. Hanging the template to the ceiling and mounting the hood is easy but putting on the stainless steel duct cover proved to be difficult. Due to our ceiling being <8'-0" we did not need the innr extension however we had to trim the top of the covers due to a gap in the ceiling. It worked for my DIYer friends and it does look great. I would suggest a professional installation next time. August 15, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Looks and works wonderful Love the range hood. A little challenging to install, but were successful and love it's performance. January 29, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Beautifully styled and appears to function well Read a number of reviews on this hood indicating installation was horrific and instructions were worse. Since it was to be installed by HD as part of a major kitchen remodel, figured the problem would be theirs not mine, so went ahead. Reviews were right - took over two hours for two experienced electricians to get the thing assembled and in, and that was compounded by a missing bag of hardware. Good response on the 800# included and parts are on the way. Install problems aside, the hood is gorgeous, multiple fan speeds seem to cover most needs, and the lighting is excellent. As of day one, it appears to be a keeper. As unglamorous as a hood is by nature, this really complements the remodel and is a plus not a detraction. Just don't plan on doing yourself or quickly unless you have significant experience. June 10, 2011
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by This is a very good buy This is a very good vent for an island or galley kitchen. It is quite and has an excellant suction for removing smoke and smells from the stove. I am very glad I found this and would recommend it very highly. The price was reasonable for the superior job it does. It was a little bit hard to install, but worth it (our existing vent hole in the ceiling was off a little, making it necessary to buy a flexible pipe for it). August 31, 2011
