Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Elizabeth How the heck do you get the duct covers to attach?
We just finished installing the unit. There were already ceiling supports so it was't too hard to attach. Pretty heavy unit but looks really nice. The BIGGEST problem is trying to attach the duct covers! It seems like that would be the easiest part but it's darn near impossible! The locking system to attach the upper covers are impossible to get to fit into the locking slots! We have been trying and trying for 2 days and SOOO frustrated! We have bent them, pushed as hard to get the back & front at the same time but it keeps popping out!!! We are going crazy!! DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY SUGGESTIONS? We are honestly thinking about gluing the darn things!!! The duct covers are just sitting there, unattached HELP!!!!!

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by DrDetroit Looks wonderful, works well, hard to install
The finished product is easily the most elegant range hood amongst a pack of ugly competitors. It's beautiful. The fan does an okay job and the lighting is very nice. However, I hired a contractor to install it and it took him and a helper two days. He mentioned a few times that it was harder than he thought. He was a perfectionist, so maybe his experience is an outlier.

The island mount range hood is difficult to install. Hanging the template to the ceiling and mounting the hood is easy but putting on the stainless steel duct cover proved to be difficult. Due to our ceiling being <8'-0" we did not need the innr extension however we had to trim the top of the covers due to a gap in the ceiling. It worked for my DIYer friends and it does look great. I would suggest a professional installation next time.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Harold Very Poor Assembly
I purchased this on line from Home Depot. It is made very strong but has very poor instructions step by step. No explaination on what locks into what. You better not miss place one screw because there is just enough. I had three screws with heads. You also need a star bit for them that is not noted and not supplied like many new items. Once it is mounted to the ceiling it screws together quickly as a frame. The reviews regarding the veht cover is correct. At this time it should be taken off of the market until it has better snaps to join each side. DO NOT remove the protective paper. You will be moving and fighting to get the sides to lock. We had to slightly bend the tabs to cauese the male side to fit into the receiving end. The instructions will tell you that you need an eight inch in diameter damper if you use a duct system. WRONG. The vent coming out of the unit is SIX inches and you can get the correct damper through Granger. The parts number will keep calling for an eight inch damper. The information given is a shame and the trim which everyone sees is almost impossible to snap together. If you are a home owner and want to take advantage of this on sale to put in yourself, FORGET IT! You will be disapointed. This is made in Italy and there is no craftmanship only assemply instructions which are poor. It is also heavy so be careful with the ceiling mounting bracket, go into wood at all holes. You can also preassemble the duct frame and snap it at the top to screw it in but they do not tell you that. I have done my own home owner work for over 30 years and this was the worst. Be ready to pay good dollar for labor to a contractor and he may add to the labor charge. It takes over three hours.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by bulldog731 Beautifully styled and appears to function well
Read a number of reviews on this hood indicating installation was horrific and instructions were worse. Since it was to be installed by HD as part of a major kitchen remodel, figured the problem would be theirs not mine, so went ahead. Reviews were right - took over two hours for two experienced electricians to get the thing assembled and in, and that was compounded by a missing bag of hardware. Good response on the 800# included and parts are on the way. Install problems aside, the hood is gorgeous, multiple fan speeds seem to cover most needs, and the lighting is excellent. As of day one, it appears to be a keeper. As unglamorous as a hood is by nature, this really complements the remodel and is a plus not a detraction. Just don't plan on doing yourself or quickly unless you have significant experience.
