What size transition is included? 8 inch?

The instruction manual says a duct transition is included, but it does not say what size.
Asked by: Zulu
It is unfortunate that only 6 inch transitions are supplied. We need an 8 inch transition.

Can you vent this through the wall rather than through the roof?

Can you vent this through the wall rather than through the roof?
Asked by: She
Yes....it can be vented through the top or rear. It has a 3 1/4" x 10" transition but this can be converted to 6" or 8" round with an adapter. Bottom line, it should adapt to most ducting requirements. Regards

Lazio 30 in. Wall Mounted Pro-Style Range Hood in Stainless Steel is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 14.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Large capture area + 400 cfm = powerful suction When I purchased this unit, I expected that installation would be a challenge (8" duct work meant I had to replace my existing duct work). Once installed and after 8 months of usage, I swear that this unit is God-sent! Unlike my old over-the-range microwave/exhaust combo and 300 cfm shallow units, this great looking, functional - albeit expensive - exhaust fan removes grease and odor so efficiently that noone would ever know you just fried fish. That's right, no more smelly clothing and house for the first time ever since I purchased the Lazio. This is A MUST-HAVE for every kitchen

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Surprisingly quiet and well made Had to replace Zephyr AK7000 because contractor did not know CFM code requirements. Zephyr was higher CFMs but up to 400 (390 on Zephyr) this runs much more quietly than the Zephyr. It is more solidly constructed (motor housing and its attachment to the body) than the Zephyr. Zephyr is a bit more attractive with its rounded corners and control panel, but this works somewhat better than the Zephyr did for exhausting cooking fumes. I think baffles (Zephyr) are overrated - because they look nice - now that I can compare baffles and screens. Timer function is useful. Would have preferred LED lights to these incandescent but the amount of light is fine. Zephyr was halogen. Very good install instructions. Electrician had great difficulty attaching power line because of location of box and tiny screws. There is a dimple on one side of the hood which was not visible until the plastic coating was removed. No reason to remove the plastic for inspection because there was no exterior damage. Too late to return. The (new) contractor was there, had the wall ready and was waiting to install. Not happy but I have to live with it. Warning - - This has a 6" round vent exhaust NOT 8". I had an 8" vent pipe hole through brick from the Zephyr. I read the manual carefully and called Arietta customer service to be certain of the size because a Q and A on here questioned it. The online manual, which CS said was definitely current, and the CS rep both said the vent is 8". It is not. It is 6". Within the shipping materials is a page addendum for the manual saying it's been changed to 6". Not helpful information after delivery and unpacking. Had to return the separately purchased Arietta 8" butterfly backdraft valve.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Beautiful piece in the kitchen!... nightmare to install! We wanted a professional looking stainless steel range hood for over the range in our new kitchen. We thought it would raise the level and make it look very high end... which it absolutely does. It looks beautiful and works very well so far. However...., I wish someone had warned me about all the snags we would encounter in trying to get it installed. We hired a professional to do it, but it still lead to many complications. The list includes: needing to hire HVAC work to reduct to the roof for an 8" connection (our home only had 6"), we needed to reinforce the wall between the studs to hold the 325lb weight requirement, we needed to purchase pieces to readjust the crown molding to accommodate the 1/4 in difference more than the cabinet depth, we needed the additional shroud to hide the ductwork up to the ceiling, and needing to order an additional filler piece to keep the closest cabinet door from rubbing against the side of the hood. Whew!! The surprises cost us about $950 more than I had budgeted. Once it went up I was so relieved and think that it does look nice. It has 3 fan levels with a shut-off timer, light and ventilates the space (even when my husband is burning meat!). Overall, a beautiful piece in my new kitchen, but it put my patience to the test in getting it installed. I am hoping that it turns out to be worth all the hassle.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for the money We purchased this for the look and price. The look is very clean and the controls (Timer, light, and fan are simple). Fan turns on automatically if area gets to hot. Not annoying but it might be later? Overall, nice product and affordable in comparison to other hoods.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent choice! I purchased this range hood directly from my local store. It looks great! Very professional looking. It is the crown jewel of my kitchen. It took the entire look of my kitchen up a notch! It was a bit of a pain to install but once we got it up, it was well worth it!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from beautiful & quiet Installed myself. Would be better if the duct exhaust was a standard outlet dimension, with outlet positioning more flexible to accommodate stud locations. The only options are from top center or back center. If the design allowed for moving the outlet left-right it would have saved a couple hours of re-framing. I would recommend you hire a professional for the installation, and probably consult with them prior to making the purchase to get a good installation budget in place. All that said, other than the reframing it was not difficult for this home-improvement hack to install it, and it looks beautiful. Very quiet fan - can barely hear it on the lowest setting. High-end look and performance for mid-level cost. You will be very pleased with the final installation.
