When I purchased this unit, I expected that installation would be a challenge (8" duct work meant I had to replace my existing duct work). Once installed and after 8 months of usage, I swear that this unit is God-sent! Unlike my old over-the-range microwave/exhaust combo and 300 cfm shallow units, this great looking, functional - albeit expensive - exhaust fan removes grease and odor so efficiently that noone would ever know you just fried fish. That's right, no more smelly clothing and house for the first time ever since I purchased the Lazio. This is A MUST-HAVE for every kitchen

I bought this range hood in 2009 for my last home and am buying it again for the new one I am currently building. It is quiet, dependable ( big motor) and it does what it is suppose to do very well! I looked at everything else that is currently available, I was tempted by the "Pro" appearing hoods available on-line for 1/2 the cost but they are nothing more than stainless steel boxes with bathroom fans in them.. Don't be fooled by others claims of 750 -1000 cfm blowing through 5 and 6" ducts. To effectively remove cooking smoke and odors you need a large centrifugal fan blowing through a large duct . The 400 cfm rating of this range hood actually delivers that capacity. The filters easily fit into a dishwasher for cleaning

You'll need a complete set of Torx bits because every screw is a different sized one. Other than that, I would recommend that you dry-fit this hood to mark the hook locations. If you use their measurements it's hit and miss.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Lobsterann Beautiful piece in the kitchen!... nightmare to install!
We wanted a professional looking stainless steel range hood for over the range in our new kitchen. We thought it would raise the level and make it look very high end... which it absolutely does. It looks beautiful and works very well so far. However...., I wish someone had warned me about all the snags we would encounter in trying to get it installed. We hired a professional to do it, but it still lead to many complications. The list includes: needing to hire HVAC work to reduct to the roof for an 8" connection (our home only had 6"), we needed to reinforce the wall between the studs to hold the 325lb weight requirement, we needed to purchase pieces to readjust the crown molding to accommodate the 1/4 in difference more than the cabinet depth, we needed the additional shroud to hide the ductwork up to the ceiling, and needing to order an additional filler piece to keep the closest cabinet door from rubbing against the side of the hood. Whew!! The surprises cost us about $950 more than I had budgeted. Once it went up I was so relieved and think that it does look nice. It has 3 fan levels with a shut-off timer, light and ventilates the space (even when my husband is burning meat!). Overall, a beautiful piece in my new kitchen, but it put my patience to the test in getting it installed. I am hoping that it turns out to be worth all the hassle.

We purchased this for the look and price. The look is very clean and the controls (Timer, light, and fan are simple). Fan turns on automatically if area gets to hot. Not annoying but it might be later? Overall, nice product and affordable in comparison to other hoods.

I purchased this range hood directly from my local store. It looks great! Very professional looking. It is the crown jewel of my kitchen. It took the entire look of my kitchen up a notch!
It was a bit of a pain to install but once we got it up, it was well worth it!

Installed myself. Would be better if the duct exhaust was a standard outlet dimension, with outlet positioning more flexible to accommodate stud locations. The only options are from top center or back center. If the design allowed for moving the outlet left-right it would have saved a couple hours of re-framing.
I would recommend you hire a professional for the installation, and probably consult with them prior to making the purchase to get a good installation budget in place.
All that said, other than the reframing it was not difficult for this home-improvement hack to install it, and it looks beautiful. Very quiet fan - can barely hear it on the lowest setting. High-end look and performance for mid-level cost. You will be very pleased with the final installation.
