Customer Questions & Answers

Can a wall control unit be used instead of the remote control?

Asked by: steven
No, a wall control unit cannot be used instead of the remote, but only with this particular color controller. Armacost Lighting does offer a wall mounted control touchpad (homedepot.com Item# 205800843) that can be used in conjunction with our other controllers, like the Slimline Color Controller (homedepot.com Item# 205622961), which use RF (Radio Frequency) communication as opposed to IR (InfraRed) used by this controller.

How do I connect to LED and power supply?

Looking to get this to use in conjunction with the Armacost 8ft RGB light tape. Not sure from the pictures and description exactly how I would have to connect this to the light tape and the power supply. Am I just splicing wires together or are special connectors required?
Asked by: Champ
These come with bare wire leads that need to be soldered to your terminal blocks of the 12V power supply you provide and your LED strips.

How long is the Model AL-RGB4A-12V built-in memory capable of retaining last color setting during power failure?

We often lose power for days; if we set the RGB controller for red (usual) we prefer to not have to reset the controller.
Asked by: Mikey
All of Armacost Lighting's color controllers utilize non-volatile memory to retain their last saved color state for an indefinite period without internal batteries that can drain and fail. No matter how long the power outage, the controller will recall its last saved state as soon as power is restored.

RGB LED Color Controller with Handheld Remote for 21 Colors with Color Changing Effects is rated 3.6 out of 5 by 5.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Color controller This item is needed for the color led ribbon lights. I find it rather tedious to use although it does work. You are never quite sure where you are in the sequence of choices for light effects. In addition the remote that came with it did not respond to the box and had to be replaced. The new one worked well. Unfortunately the remote does not work through the wooden cupboard so the control box has to be placed outside somewhere or in an accessible location to use the remote. Since I used the outlet in the cabinet above the microwave, I set the box on top of the microwave and keep the remote handy in a nearby cupboard.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works great Boughts this for our RGB LED tape under cabinet lighting and it works great so far. We used the RGB tape in the bar area of our kitchen and it's the perfect spot to be able to change colors and have fun with it. One advice would be to make sure that the controller is installed in such a way so that the remote control can reach it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from works so far, Must be mounted so you can point the remote to it, not good for installing in cabinets or hidden elsewhere

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Clearance item Product was missing remote, seems to work fine. Cost was still high combined with light strip.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Pricey but works Works as claimed however range on the remote is very short. Not a lot of advantage spending the extra $ on the remote control except that you don't have to bend over to push the button on the controller.
