Answer:
This is what you need, but you'll also need some extra tape to hold the seam together. I used electrical tape and wrapped the insulation like a candy cane stripe. I'm not sure if this is the best tape to use, but it's what I had on hand.

Customer Reviews

Rated 3.9 out of 5 by 7 reviewers.
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Self seal tape The self seal tape is poor quality or design. I was unable to remove the cover for the tape without tearing the self seal tape off the insulation. I have worked with other pipe insulation where the self seal tape works wonderfully. The pipe insulation seems good quality but the tape is useless. February 19, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Tape won't hold sides together. The tape seal won't hold. I pulled the strips off of the tape after I wrapped the pipe and just before pinching the sides together. A few hours later the seal was open the entire length of pipe. I had to wrap the pipe in electrical tape. July 18, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great product I have a two-zone heating system, and for whatever reason my pipes were frozen upstairs (zone 1), but not downstairs (zone 2). When I wasn't get heat nor cold water (on Zone1)in the kitchen, but I was getting hot water, I figured the pipes were frozen; zone 2 was getting everything. I put these wraps around the pipes in my basement leading outside, ran a heater under my kitchen sink, and in the basement boiler room, and in less than 15 minutes, my pipes were thawed. It would have taken much longer without these insulation wraps. They are easy to maneuver and cut to length size. January 4, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good Product I bought 2 different kinds of pipe insulation to see which I thought worked best, and this is the insulation t decided on. Once the heating season is over, I'll be buying more and insulating the remainder of the pipes. January 11, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by This insulation is easy to install. This is great insulation. It literally just took me less than 10 minutes to install on my water heater pipes. The self sealing works great, and is forgiving if you don't stick it just right first. I also used one straight piece, even on the 90 degree angles, and around the thicker parts where the shut off valve is. I used some of the leftover to insulate the T&P valve. (Keep it out of the way of the pressure release!) Love this product! March 4, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Easy to install - works great This insulation was very easy to install – cut to the correct length, slip around piping, pull the plastic cover off the sealer, and press seal together. It took me 5 minutes to cover an air conditioner pipe. Perfect! November 4, 2009
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Quick & Easy This was so easy to install. I have used this many times and have definitely seen the energy savings! April 9, 2010
