What kind of subfloor can this be installed on? If concrete do I need to do anything to it before applying the glue?

Also, what about upstairs where it's usually plywood subfloors. And do I have to seal this once I'm done?
Asked by: Catrekker
Hello there. You can install this material over, concrete, gypsum, plywood, steel, stainless steel, aluminum, lead, copper, brass, bronze, ceramic tile, marble tile, terrazzo, and polymeric poured floors. If you are installing over a concrete slab, we would always recommend conducting a moisture test to make sure there is no excess moisture. If this is being installed in a residential setting, such as your home, you do not have to seal the material after installation, you can simply apply two coats of our Armstrong shinekeeper polish immediately following installation, this will seal and protect the floor. I have attached our installation instructions below for your convenience. I hope this information is helpful! http://www.floorexpert.com/articles/Installation/Vinyl-Composition-Tile-VCT-Installation-System?KBArticleID=kA761000000PBS3&KBArticleName=Imperial-Texture-Standard-Excelon-Vinyl-Composition-Tile-Product-Information&popup=false&retURL=%2Fapex%2FknowledgeSearch%3Fk%3D51830&KBArticleTitle=Imperial+Texture+Standard+Excelon+Vinyl+Composition+Tile+%22Product+Information%22&KBArticleTypeLabel=Product+Spec+%2F+Data+Sheet&KBArticleType=Product_Spec__kav

Is VCT Tile Model # 51899021 compatible for use with Model # 51866031?

I would like to use VCT tile models in combination to create a vintage look using two models of VCT's for a checkered design. I noticed within the specifications the VCT tiles show a thickness of 1/8 for the green tile and 3/32 for the white tile. I'm concerned the difference in thickness will affect having a flush surface at the intersects of the two different tiles especially, if used in a checkered floor design. Can I use these two model tiles to create a checkered flooring? Please advise. Thanks
Asked by: Enviroman
Don't do it ! It'll look awful when installed and will catch your toes and chip. Just use one thickness and it will be beautiful with a coat of wax.

Can you verify that #51899021 is .094 in thickness? If it is thin it might slide best under our kitchen woodwork floor frame edges.

There is 45 sq ft of product in each carton. To meet the specifications of those dimensions, you will need around 9 cartons of product. This will bring the total sq ft to 405. I hope this information helps.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from THIS TILE DOES NOT MATCH THE THICKNESS OF OTHER ORDERED TILES. THESE PARTICULAR TILES ARE A DIFFERENT THICKNESS THAN MOST OTHER TILES DISPLAYED IN THIS PRODUCT LINE, SO THEY DO NOT MATCH THE OTHER COLORS I HAD SELECTED FOR MY FLOOR. I NOW NEED TO RETURN THE "SPECIAL ORDER" AND WAIT TO INSTALL THE FLOOR. WE HAVE USED OTHER VCT TILES IN OTHER INSTALLATIONS AND THEY LOOK AND WEAR GREAT.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Different Height I wish I would have saw the other review. I ordered this tile as well as another color from the same line and they are different heights. I didn't even think about checking because they were from the same line (excelon). Bummer. Now I need to ship back and pick another color that will match my other tiles.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from What were they thinking? Same line, "standard" excelon imperial texture thickness is not standard. My attempt to match old flooring was looking good until the tile arrived. The color match was great for being 15 years later than the original flooring but, for "business reasons" the tile is 1/32" thinner than it was last time I bought it. To me, it would have made sense for armstrong to have renamed the new product line "substandard excelon imperial texture, or excelon II, or economy grade or excelon Lite or lo-calorie, fat free...... Just a tad misleading.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Height of tile (thickness) is more than advertised It was the wrong thickness...we were trying to match an older tile that was truly 3/32 inch thick. This new tile was closer to 1/16th inch thick. Doesn't sound like a lot of difference, but there is a small ridge (step up) now compared to the older tile. Considering installation costs, I regret not looking for a better tile.
