Be careful with the high of the blade since you may do more damage. It picks up the dead grass and more, but it didn't remove the moss which is what I wanted. I thinking of attaching the metal spring to dig into the ground.

The item can be difficult to install, which then requires adjustments to the levels on the lawnmovers --- not something that would be easy for most women. That being said it did save me a lot of racking and scratching trying to thatch my yard

Hardly did anything. I mowed the day before and then installed the blade to reduce strain on the engine but I couldn't get it to work. If I lowered the mower a notch it just tore apart the lawn. For $20 nore, rent the dethatcher machine.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by mrquality5 Just OK for dethatching--good as a new blade, however
Blade is well built and was easy to install on my Craftsman/Honda 21" lawnmower. Comes with a couple adapter options to fit different mowers, so no problems there. The plastic tines are very rigid, and if you follow instructions and start at your mower's highest deck setting and work your way down, you won't risk destroying/scalping your lawn.
Unfortunately while this blade did remove some of the thatch, it wasn't consistent or thorough. It's because the plastic tines only exist at the outer ~ 4 inches of the blade ends (just look at the product picture)... so there is no dethatching action occurring along the rest of the blade's length (e.g. the center 14-16 inches)!
So, while it may seem to save you effort, you'll actually need to do more passes on your lawn to ensure you go over all your grass with the "edges" of blade where the plastic tines reside and will actually be used.
And even when I had it my mower at its lowest deck height, I still had to use my landscape rake afterwards to pickup thatch that was missed. Once I was finished and removed the plastic tines, the blade has worked well just for cutting the grass--it mulches very finely so I can just mow without needing to bag.
So, if you're looking for a new blade and might want to dethatch a little too... this is a good investment. If you're mainly looking to dethatch (as I was), I'd suggest just renting a professional dethatcher for a day as it'll do a much better job.

The blade installed easily. In use the plastic tines did not remove any thatch. I adjusted the blade height to its lowest setting with not improvement in the de-thatching.

There are no adapters for Star shaft mowers. Plastic weed eater tines wear out almost instantly. Had to go back to the store and buy replacements just to finish the small section I tried it on and ended up renting a de-thatcher anyway. For use on a 1/4 acre lot I expected more.

We bought this for use with our Husqavarna lawn mower which was only a year old. We were able to do about 10,000 sq ft of lawn (it did a decent job), however just before we completed our yard the lawnmower started to act up. It turns out the crankshaft bent and now the cost of repair is the same as purchasing a new lawn mower.
If you use this item, I would make sure that you do a small section of yard at a time and make sure your grass is really dry. Our grass was a bit damp and we are wondering if that might be part of the reason for our lawnmower breaking as a result of using this product.

It pulled up loose debris but was ineffective on moss. I had to go back to the thatching rake to get at the moss. I was hoping the blade would make my work easier. The only thing that truly works is the rake.
