Customer Questions & Answers

What is the wind speed rating for this shed?

Asked by: Peter
Properly anchored to the ground with the doors closed the wind speed would be Approximately 50 mph

How do you anchor the building to a wood or concrete floor?

Is there hardware included to anchor it to a wood or concrete floor? Are there predrilled holes in the floor frame to anchor the building to a wood or concrete floor?
Asked by: Cassandra
No, the anchors are not included. There are holes in the base frame every couple of feet for anchoring into wood or concrete. If using a wood platform you would use decking screws to anchor. If using a concrete slab you would use concrete anchors to anchor

How long does this take to install?

I'm trying to figure out how much time it would take to set up this shed on an existing concrete pad.
Asked by: turkeyboy
Plan on a week. Holes very seldom line up, you need two more additional people to hold up the frame work after it is assembled to fasten it all together. Be sure you have the anchoring kit; however, you will need additional bracing to ensure the shed doesn't get blown down in the first strong wind that comes along.

does it have a floor with this shed?

or do i need to make a floor on top of the foundation?
Asked by: wrw1954
No. You will need to build a wood base or pour a concrete pad. General "how-to" instructions are given in the directions for this.

I am a civil engineer and part time home re-modeler, so I have a pretty good handle on reading plans, following directions, and getting things to go together. A friend of mine who is also in the construction business and a very astute fellow helped me with this assembly. The main issue was that the assembly was wonky, not so much because the materials were poor, but because the predrilled holes did not line up correctly to allow for easily getting the assembled dimensions called for in the directions. We worked carefully in the initial framing to be sure the base and trusses were square and measured per the directions, but none-the-less the predrilled holes for the walls and especially the roof and gables were impossible to all line up for clean fastening. I could have built my own for a little more money and had a better end product. The finished product is sturdy, but I have concerns about future leaks with the way we had to angle so many of the wall and roof screws to align everything to make it work. Plus the washers are junky plastic, not like the rubber or composite washers you would use when assembling a real metal building. f you are not the patient type and are not well versed in assembly of these sorts of things, I would definitely not recommend it. If you are patient and have experience, buyer beware, this one will cause some cursing before you are finished....and maybe afterwards also.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great shed for the value. This is a nice utility shed. The key is to have a very good, level, solid surface to mount the shed onto. I built a 10x12 wood base using 2x6's and OSB plywood sheeting. It was supported by concrete pillars on the corners and supported by concrete pads in various locations in the center. It comes in two boxes, one being the framing and the other the siding and roof. I sorted all the bolts, washers, etc. Preassembled most of what I could into sub assemblies. Read and follow the instructions carefully. Most holes did line up nicely. Some that didn't I just redrilled myself, very easy. Assembling the framing and roof requires two people. If your not mechanically inclined get some help. I spent about a 3-5 hrs over a 5 day period building the shed.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Commander 10'x10' hot dipped galvanized steel shed Don't even consider purchasing this shed! It requires more than two people to erect, not as the instructions state that one person could erect it. It requires much more than two days, even in ideal conditions, to complete. I'm a retired Mechanical Engineer and these instructions are very difficult to follow and understand; virtually no predrilled hole aligns with another hole; whoever it was who designed and drew up these instruction, it they had worked for me I would have fired them. I secured this shed to a concrete patio base with the recommended anchoring kit and not two months after erecting the shed it was blown down, a total loss, in a 30 to 40 mph gust of wind. Don't waste your time or money on this inadequately designed structure, or any metal shed for that matter; invest in a wood one. You'll have something to show for your efforts and investment.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not what it is advertised as The galvanized shed is not a whole heck of a lot of galvanization, I would have expected to have a better dipping of the products framing and walls. I am going to have to paint the interior and exterior of the shed so that I do not have rust in the very near future. It came with some scratches inside the boxes. Although it seemed to go together well, I will admit I was a 1/16th of an inch out of square, so the doors latch hard and I have to wait for the next storm to find a small leak in the roof. I bought it instead of going from scratch to save time and what I thought was going to be money. It was neither. Now I also will admit that I am not a professional builder, but I have over my lifetime have remodeled over 2o houses.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from pretty solid when constructed properly A lot of work to construct but good instructions and all parts are marked. Does take two people for a lot of it. There are hundreds of screws that you must put plastic washers on, would save a lot of time if they came with the washers on, but probably a cost savings issue. There are no locking washers for the bolts, also would save hours in the construction but again probably a cost savings measure. The shed must be secured to the foundation properly and recommend a level cement slab. If constructed properly overall end product seems pretty solid.
