I was up on a roof working at night putting on tar paper before shingling. I was using a light weight CT hammer tacker probably made in China and had trouble with the staple load compression spring staying in place. Once, in the dark, when trying to load a couple of bars of staples I accidentally let the spring slip out of my palm allowing that part to launch into the darkness . That and a few times just coming loose in my hand. I went to Home Depot and found several hammer tackers that all used the same fastening at the heel. Then I saw the Arrow HT50iRed. It had some great features. It had a loading system that did not have to separate while putting in staples so could not become lost. It had a nice formed rubber grip. It looked like it was well thought out though a bit pricey. I took one home, got it out of the package and found that the staple loading mechanism would not open up. I took it back to the store that very same night and they were happy to make an exchange at Home Depot. Back home again and loaded staples into the new tacker. Next morning I took it up on the roof again and started using it.
First thing I noticed was that contrary to the advertising on it the Red it would jam up frequently, that and it often spat out more then one staple at a time (time after time). The final straw was when it quit working all together. Shaking it I could hear something rattling around and then a steel part fell out. It's going back to the store this morning and I will be asking for my money back. This is obviously not a reliable tool. Too bad though, I did like the shape and feel of it. Back to my Chinese light weight CT hammer tacker. I know I just have to watch how I hold it because it has a staple release that's too easy to knock and lose the spring and staples. I'm more than a bit disillusioned with Arrow for putting out a product like this. In the past I have used lots of Arrow staplers and they have all worked well for me.

Rated 1 out of 5Â by faulty1 NOTHING BUT MISFIRES AS THE STAPLE LOAD BREAKS UP IN TOOL MAGAZINE AND CONSTANTLY SENDS OUT EXTRA STAPLES PER HIT
CANNOT GET THIS BOTTOM LOADER TO NOT SEND EXTRA STAPLES OUT ABOUT EVERY 5TH HIT-- PUT IT BACK IN PACKAGE THE NEXT DAY TO DO WHAT WITH --
HOPEFULLY SOMEONE WILL REIMBURSE ME FOR THIS NON- WORKING TACKER--
wanted this to be new go to tacker with ease of loading BUT it does not function properly-- seems that the staple clip is not secure enough for the hammer action ---

The design looks good, the quality looks good, and it's easy to use! Now if it didn't jam up every 6-7 hits it would be perfect!

Rated 4 out of 5Â by molly45 This product has great features
This product is easy to grip and control. It conveniently uses three different sizes of staples. It does take some pressure to set the staples but overall is a great product.
