How many sheets of plywood is needed for the floor? Also, any particular type/sizes?

As I order this from my local Home Depot, I wanted to know how many sheets of plywood is needed for the floor? Also, any particular type of plywood or specific sizes?
Asked by: Infralap
I used 4 sheets of 4x8 5/8 pressure treated plywood. You will have to cut one in half which will be 4'x4' and use both pieces. Another you will have to rip down the center which it will be 2'x8' and also use both pieces. I used pressure treated 2"x4"s as the frame. 4 on the flat and 4 on edge. I waited to place the inside 2"x4"s until I staggered the plywood trying not to have the cuts meet. Basically you need to have a 2"x4" at every edge of the plywood to have support as well as something to nail the plywood down to. I didn't want a continuous seem so I staggered the sheets and placed the center 2"x4"s as needed. I also placed the floor on cinder blocks and built a small ramp.

Are these water tight

Asked by: Bill
no, but can be caulk to be more sealed (both sides of shed at floor level) Some moister and leaks will be there, due to air venting top of walls, top of peak from wind driven rain. Not a shed for must be kept dry items. For that you would want a wooden shed type.

It is surprisingly sturdy for being so flimsy, but once assembled it holds up to high winds if anchored correctly. I found 2 design flaws however. When screwing in the gables, the screws extended into the track area so that the door slides get caught on the screws. Also, the main beam did not have a cutout to fit the brackets on the gables, so I had to cut of one section of the lower I-beam area to make it fit flush. Cheap shed, you get what you pay for, but it will function. I was also leaning towards building a wood shed. After completing this one, I think if I had to do it again, I would go with wood. But, it is built now.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from 10X12 METAL BUILDING - GOOD VALUE BE CAREFUL: I made the foundation a week before the building was delivered and - according to their information - the finish base was supposed to be 10'-4" X 12'-2". So that is what was built. The base was actually 10ft X 12ft and the roof overhang was 10'-4" X 12'-2. So - someone needs to tell them that a roof overhang is not the same thing as a base dimension. I totally disliked the 250+ little bolts that came with the thing so I pop-riveted the building together. All of the manufactured parts were there and all went together perfectly. The painted sides and roof were more like a primer coat so I sprayed it with some quality enamel. It was a 2 day project.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Assembling a 10 x 12 Shed When you first open the box, the task ahead of you may seem daunting. But, follow the directions, step by step, and you will feel good about what you accomplished. I was pretty amazed when everything lined up right down to the last screw. Sure, there were a few that needed a little coaxing, but we are talking about holes pre-drilled in steel. So, overall, I am very pleased. While working with the panels, keep in mind that they are very thin steel. When assembled, it presents itself as a somewhat solid structure, but the metal is thin. It will dent if you look at it the wrong way. Some of the dents can be pushed out, others you will have to live with. Just remember that you didn't pay a fortune for your 120 sq ft building! A final note: One person can do all the prep-work, and many of the finishing touches, but there will be times when you have to have some extra hands. Use them wisely! ;-)

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Bad product and customer service Numerous pieces were missing from the kit and when I called to get them to send the parts that were missing all they could say was they were sorry it happened and my parts would be here in 3-5 days and it's been 7 days so far. They refused to overnight it without charging extra. Most of the parts had scratches all over them as well. Do not buy this!

Instructions were straight forward and as long as you make sure that you’re building on a level foundation, you shouldn’t run into alignment issues with screw holes ect. Overall great.

If you follow them exactly, shed will come out fine. The only thing is, the screws are somewhat not long enough, and you can really use longer screws in placing the roof on. Other than that, I'm very pleased,J.

Definitely will take 2 people for some parts of the assembly like when you start to assemble the corners of the shed. There is ALOT of bolts and screws and it is tedious and will take a long time.
