Customer Questions & Answers

Does it come with staples loaded, or are those sold separately?

Asked by: Erica
Staples were separate in my case.

What type of staples? T50?

Asked by: Sharon
Will accept T50, however, mine didn't have the strength to shoot a 1/2" T50 into 1/2" plywood. May work fine for shorter leg staples though.

How does this model compare to Arrow Fastener Heavy Duty Staple gun?

Asked by: Jazzybel
The TacMate T50X staple gun is one of our best-sellers. It shoots T50 staples up to 1/2-inch and is easier to squeeze than the heavy-duty T50. The T50 staple gun shoots T50 staples up to 17/32-inch and works better for people with larger grip spans and strength. If you’re a construction professional or you do a lot of heavy-duty home improvement tasks, we’d recommend the T50. If you’re a DIYer or crafter with occasional home improvement projects, the TacMate is a great fit. Feel free to email us at if you have any more questions!

Customer Reviews

Tac Mate T50X Heavy-Duty Fastener is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 621.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Horrible Tool The TacMate is a horrible tool. I live in a small town and have to drive 20 miles each way to buy a tool. I understand that this is a low end product but I went through half a box of staples before it stopped working altogether. After about 300 staples, I had to stop, open the stapler and reset the remaining staples to get two or three more to fire before it stopped altogether. I drove 20 miles back to the store for an exchange, and the new stapler performed identically to the first one; after a couple hundred staples, I had to reload it every two or three staples. After about 500 staples it died. I will never buy another Arrow stapler.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Horrible tool I purchased this staple gun and tried to load the T50 staples and could not close the gun. So I contacted Arrow in NJ and I was transferred to someone .... he told me I was putting them in the wrong way. Okay, so I put the staples in the way he said and it did close. Problem is then the gun would not staple. So then he said it's brand new but maybe it is a bad one. Just drove back to store .. 40 min round trip. I salesperson at store ... tried to load another T50 gun ... he had the same problem I did. I went ahead and purchased another brand .. Stanley. I used to have another Arrow staple gun which was great but Arrow stopped making those ... it was great & used it for years... so great I tried to stick with Arrow.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Cannot load staples I was all ready to use the T50X 1113 today using arrow staples #504 genuine arrow staples, 1/4 " 6mm. The staples will not fully load no matter how many I try to load, so there are no staples in the front. I have used staple guns before so I know how to load them. Very Very Disappointed. I have had it awhile but this is my 1st attempt at using it. The cold air is blowing along the side of my door as I write this.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great for household Projects I needed a staple gun that was easy to use for stapling vinyl fabric to a media cabinet floor. It worked well no problems. I also needed to create a cloth opening in my media cabinet for a sub woofer speaker. By using cloth and wood molding to frame the inside opening, I used the stapler to adhere the wood molding to my cabinet frame and stretched the speaker cloth around the molding. It worked well.

Packaging claims to accept 1/2" staples. Perhaps it will shoot them into particle board or sheet rock, but won't shoot them more than 1/8" into the plywood used for the chair seat. May work fine for shorter leg lengths, but frankly, I didn't even try. Returned the item.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid and Easy to Use Stapler I bought this to replace an ancient T-50 stapler and, based on a quick test, think this will be a very satisfactory replacement. It is much easier to load, holds more staples, and drives them into soft wood very well. In addition, the handle is much easier to operate than the T-50.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Can you really get it wrong? Easy to load, staples have gotten stuck on me in the stapler from time to time. Not sure if that's a product of the staples or the firing mechanism. That's the only thing i've dealt with. All else its been just fine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to use, comfortable This stapler was good for a reupholstery project, although I found some of the staples did not fully engage. Other than that, easy and comfortable to hold, easy to load, feels like a good quality piece.
