Customer Questions & Answers

can i use the 30 inch base to install a sink?

i'm only finding a "sink base" in 36 inches.. does it come in a 30 inch or can i just use the standard 30 inch base for a sink?
Asked by: kristi
If memory serves me, all the 30 inch units come with a drawer above the doors. This could be removed and used as a sink cabinet. The width will limit you to a single bowl sink or a bar sink though. Additionally you will have to remove the drawer front from the drawer and remount on the cabinet with some blocking.

I have marble peices I will be using as a countertop, which will be quite heavy. Will these cabinets hold the weight of marble. ?
Asked by: Pam
I think so. Each cabinet should support several hundreds pounds of weight no problem. They are strong when pushing straight down on them, but a little flimsy side-to-side. That shouldn't matter once installed and secured.

Assembled 18x34.5x24 in. Base Kitchen Cabinet in Unfinished Oak is rated 3.5 out of 5 by 151.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Inconsistent construction design Bought two cabinets to make into an island cart. Found out after I got them home that one was built in August and the other in December--back side of each was designed differently. Made the project more difficult when I went to apply the wainscoting wrap on the back side. Fortunately, the new structure is a better design--just check your cabinets before you haul them home.

Added electrical These cabinets are good quality at a fair price. The oak door & drawers and front panel have a high quality hardwood oak. The rest of the body is particleboard with the laminate sticker inside. The plastic clips that hold the inside you're in place are neat. They have neat self-locking tab on the top, and two of them are different. They have a little tab so that the shelf cannot slide forward off those brackets. I bought a 36 inch base cabinet to make a small island in the kitchen. Many people complain that the top drawer stops about 6 inches short of the rear of the cabinet. I found this extremely helpful since I added two electrical boxes at that level. They are perfectly hidden and out-of-the-way. The three sides are unfinished, so I had to buy the oak veneer for the sides and then I bought some wainscoting to finish off the back. You also need to buy a veneer toe kick to cover the particleboard. Will buy base trim and corner trim when done. The drawer is light to medium duty only, but moves freely. The doors do slam shut so some rubber bumpers stuck on the inside would help dampen the sound of them slamming shut. Would actually consider these for my future kitchen remodel, assuming it would save thousands of dollars.

I stored 4 cases of canned sodas in this cabinet for about 2 months and just recently put a few in the fridge to drink. After tasting the soda (a very popular brand) I found it tasted like the smell of the wood cabinet. Apparently, the wood smell from this enclosed cabinet seeps into aluminum cans. I can not drink any of these sodas now. I will not be putting any canned foods or any food items in these cabinets in the future. I give it 3 stars for the on-sale price I paid.

For the price it can't be beat and since I only needed 2 it seemed a good purchase. Much like the Japanese engines and their one-time use hose clamps, the press-board construction (90% of the total weight) won't take well to modification of cabinet depth off 24" and the hardware holding it all together is very cheap and ineffective at holding it all together over time. One nice feature would have been a pull out natural wood cutting board to come with.

It has a small flaw on one of the doors where wood filler or glue was used that would not take the stain very well but I decided not to complain due to the price. I rent my basement and used it for the sink base. The size was right so I just removed the drawer and glued the front panel back on. Overall, I am pleased with the product.
