I purchased this item online and went about putting it together which was easy enough but noticed that the 6 pin connector was broken making the solar panel not work (see picture). Unfortunately this cannot be easily fixed as the metal piece inside was snapped.
In addition, the switch to turn the light on is covered by a rubber case to make it waterproof (pictured) but as you can see it has a hole in it which defeats the purpose.
Don't do what I did and throw away the cardboard before fully inspecting as now I have to order parts from HD which hasn't been the best of experiences.

I bought this umbrella (sight unseen) online since it is one of the few lighted rectangular umbrellas available anywhere. It is replacing an 8 year old unlighted umbrella from the same company that while still useable, was badly spotted from weather, having been left outside year-round. I was skeptical to buy without being able to actually touch one beforehand, but upon arrival was impressed by its enormous size and craftsmanship. Have had the umbrella up for about 6 weeks now and it stands up to wind and storm without any concerns, due to its unique vent at the top. The LED lights are awesome and provide perfect level of light for evening cookouts etc. So far, the solar panel and batteries are holding up well and the lights have been left on overnight several times and are still as bright as ever in the morning. The only drawbacks are: 1. The pole only comes in taupe, but I spray painted the lower part to match my table and it looks great. 2. If you want to use a cover when it is closed, you have to remove the solar panel first as it is slightly too big for most covers.
Beside that, I consider this item to be of great quality, well engineered and unique. I get constant compliments from visitors.

The cloth will last about 3 years before you start getting rips and holes, you can't replace the canopy so you must throw it away. Also the pole is crooked where you push button to tilt the umbrella. I bought 2 and they both started falling apart at the same time...about 2 years and 6 months

This thing is pretty cool. Sets up nicely and has a good weight to it too. Lights are spaced well and attached to the frame work of the umbrella in a sturdy manner. Material of the umbrella is a heavy canvas type. I love the little on/off switch on the pole giving you the ability to turn it off to save the stored solar power. It sets off my table wonderfully. I would definitely recommend this product.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by trs0722 Good value but not very sturdy
As soon as I opened the box I could immediately tell that this umbrella wasn't going to last long. The fabric was very thin and the bottom portion (where the top portion screws in) was fairly thin metal/aluminum. I felt that one strong wind gust could bend the pole. We had already bought a Hampton Bay non tilting umbrella that was similar but a little smaller. We decided we may need one that tilts. This one tilts only towards the long side, which is probably ok for many people, but wasn't optimal for our situation. I didn't even try to hook up the solar sensor to check out the lights. I'm sure this would be cool but I really felt the quality of this one to be less than the Hampton Bay that we'll be keeping. Strange that the box (and umbrella itself) did not say the manufacturer (Astonica?) but the instruction booklet that came with the unit said it was a Hampton Bay umbrella.

I bought it last spring. Used 1 summer. Opened today, the red that it was is COMPELETLY faded. This is the only reason for the low stars. Otherwise the solar lights are nice. Not worth the money because of cheap fading material. I bought less expensive from Walmart for outdoor stuff, same color and it did not fade. All that can be done is to complain, because the manufacturer and consideres it a natural wear and tear. I am disappointed that HD is selling such a low quality product.

Hey its an out door umbrella designed for summer use! We made the mistake of leaving it out throughout the winter and it didn't hold up so well. However, we went back to home depot and they replaced it with the same one! The lights are back on! Also, this umbrella stores so much power that you can leave it on all night and it will still be bright in the morning.

9ft. umbrella was easy to set up! Very well constructed Hubby couldn't wait for a couple of sunny days to check out solar lighting. Since we purchased in April and weather was still very variable and windy the first few days after we set it up, we had to be patient but it was well worth the wait! The solar lighting was fantastic, bright enough to play cards or read a book! I can't wait for our Memorial picinic, easy switch near roll up handle, to turn lights off when not needed. You won't go wrong with this purchase!
