Customer Reviews

Rated 3.8 out of 5 by 4 reviewers.
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by decent storm protection solution First I am a registered engineer, so, I have researched this product compared to everything on the market. I have installed and compared accordion storm shutters, and also the Astro Guard product. First the fabric seems a little thin for puncture resistance, but, appears strong in tensile. The cost is high considering it is a DIY project. The costs I compared are $129 (for everything needed) for the Astroguard and $290 for a manufactured accordion shutter for the same size window that I used. Wind tests showed the impact resistance of the fabric compared to the other options (plywood, aluminum panels, shutters, etc), and it performed well. The fabric must be stretched tightly so the flying debris won't deflect the fabric and still hit the window glass. It works best on a recessed window (like for a CMU block wall). A flush mounted window won't be helped by this material. July 19, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Stuff! I purchased this for my house in Florida to save on insurance. I got my A rating and saved 19% off my yearly homeowners insurance. Very happy! May 16, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great product We bought this for a window that needed protection for insurance. I wish I had done this for the whole house! A salesman explained that hurricane protection does not need to protect the glass, it has to keep wind from pressurizing the house. He also said if it breaks the glass, as all shutters can, it still keeps winds and debris out...Love it! October 30, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by dont waste your money We bought this stuff last year I installed it and did everything according to the specs. You can push the astroguard all the way to the window, if I punched it I would smash the window. This stuff only prevent debris from entering home not protection from objects smashing out your window. If you get a storm and you have no window all the pressures will tear your house apart! Complete garbage! May 21, 2013
