This is a decent grill but keep it in mind it's not $100 or $150 grill. Yes you may loose some key features such as thermometer and hinged or handle grate. But it does good for a grill at this price. Had mine just over two years and is holding up. I use it to cook chicken pork ribs and even low and slow pork butt. I made a 10.5 pd. Pork butt for many hours but it is a bit of a challenge with no way to access the coals without removing everything but with the little patience it can be done and may I say all I cook comes out great..So if you want a grill to use without spending a lot go for this.

I had one of these grills for 8 years and it worked great. It was time for a new one, and I was disappointed that the manufacturer has stopped attaching the back vent panel. Without this rear vent control you cannot control all of the air intake. Really bad move by Aussie. The manufacturer sells the missing vent panel for $7.95, but does not ship to Canada......

For starters, the grate is to wide allowing food slip threw onto the fire below. The locking mechanismism sticks, making it a choir to store.

I have owned 2 of these in the last 13 years and am about to get number 3. Common sense and a decent cover is all you need for maintaining these grills. I do not use pre soaked charcoal because it burns hotter than hand soaked coals. Keep in mind I use a grill in the summer at least 2 to 3 times a week and cook an average of 1,000 lbs. a meat per summer. These grills are great as long as you just keep them covered when not in use, and do not store them out in the elements. I have had to repaint the tops on each one of them but when I repaint them, I wet sand them and use high heat automotive engine paint. For the money, I will not buy or use any other type grill, however I don't use these as a smoker, I have a Brinkman for that.

I used this grill at a summer rental house. I loved the direct charcoal heat. I used the available gas grill and the Walk-a-about and everyone agreed that charcoal food tasted better. When I got home, sold my gas grill and went to Home depot and got a Walk-a-bout. I tell everyone don't buy a gas grill. No running out of gas, no iffy tank connections (do you smell gas?). I have been using my Walk-a-bout for 3 years and it is still GREAT! I love it.
