Answer:
Yes, but I can tell you that in 13 years I have owned two of these grills and have never had the need to replace them. I do not overload the grates and as a matter of fact when I discarded my first Aussie, I saved the grate and still have it as a back up.

Answer:
Frankly, I recommend that you throw this grill away. It is not worth the cost of a new grate. Instead buy a Weber Smokey Joe. You'll find that you will save the money to pay for it because it uses far less charcoal to get hot than the Aussie grill. You'll find the Weber will last much longer and is so tight that it can save unused charcoal for your next time.

Answer:
The vents are useless in controlling temperature. The grill never gets hot enough in full-throttle.
It's worthless IMHO.

Every version of this grill that I have owned has a vent on the front AND back of the lower bowl. As well as the hood vent.

You can order the ash catcher directly from the manufacturer (I just did it.) It was $19.95 with shipping. The customer service phone number is 1.800.251.7558. Or you can check out their website at meco.net. Very helpful service. Bob

CUSTOMER REVIEWS

Rated 4.0 out of 5 by 71 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Getting Ready For Number 3 I have owned 2 of these in the last 13 years and am about to get number 3. Common sense and a decent cover is all you need for maintaining these grills. I do not use pre soaked charcoal because it burns hotter than hand soaked coals. Keep in mind I use a grill in the summer at least 2 to 3 times a week and cook an average of 1,000 lbs. a meat per summer. These grills are great as long as you just keep them covered when not in use, and do not store them out in the elements. I have had to repaint the tops on each one of them but when I repaint them, I wet sand them and use high heat automotive engine paint. For the money, I will not buy or use any other type grill, however I don't use these as a smoker, I have a Brinkman for that. May 28, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great BBQ I just bought this bbq so simple to set up. Decent Quality got it on sale very happy with it. Yes would recommend it to a friend June 20, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by I love it! I used this grill at a summer rental house. I loved the direct charcoal heat. I used the available gas grill and the Walk-a-about and everyone agreed that charcoal food tasted better. When I got home, sold my gas grill and went to Home depot and got a Walk-a-bout. I tell everyone don't buy a gas grill. No running out of gas, no iffy tank connections (do you smell gas?). I have been using my Walk-a-bout for 3 years and it is still GREAT! I love it. May 28, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by The Best Charcoal Grill I have owned this grill for over 4 years and i love it..! Its built to last. June 4, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Easy Bought this grill for the first weekend after we moved into a new home. Quick and easy to get ready. No problems while grilling. We will defintley keep this around for tailgates/camping trips. May 23, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by You Get What You Pay For... Very happy with the price. However, the paint on the lid bubbled and blistered with the first charcoal fire tonight. So... the paint job is junk. Be careful not to let it bubble and flake onto your burgers. :( May 7, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by No assembly, works well, cheap. Bought this mostly because it was already assembled and under $40. I love it. Pre-soaked charcoal works best with a few pieces of paper tucked into strategic spots. I have no issues getting the grill hot enough to cook with. You need to mound the charcoal and then spread it out (like the charcoal instructions say). I cooked with it all winter (our very warm winter this year 2015-16 in the Northeast) at least once a week. The paint did peel off the outside after first use, but doesn't affect function. Vents are good. Adjustable vent on top of the lid and fixed holes in bottom and sides. Removable coal tray holds most of the waste - just remove and dump. Will need to remove extra ash (turn over and dump out - a little unwieldy) every 5th use or so as it will block air vent holes if you aren't careful. Coating the grate with corn oil prior to cooking keeps it clean and your food from sticking. Will buy again - but looked and the price went up to $50... maybe $35 was a special at my store at the time. March 20, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Okay, but the paint is not heat-resistant Well, it's a nice big charcoal grill, and it's very portable, but when I used it, the paint on the underside and on top of the cover flaked off. Apparently the paint isn't mean to be exposed to... well, heat, which is kind of silly for a grill. Otherwise it was alright, but it didn't look nice after just a single use. July 5, 2015
