Answer:
Home Depot was kind enough to exchange 2 for me but #3 is sitting in shop with a kinked cable. I was unable to secure the MFG Warranty but I did try. Each of mine only worked a few times successfully then went south. I believe the manufacturers web site has a way to send in for repair estimates but you may find the cost leaves you needing another unit unless it is something small like a switch.

I further note the smaller units like these have a tendency to cable-kink under resistance at longer lengths leaving it completely useless. Having returned 2 #thank you Home Depot# and needing a slightly larger unit to reach our septic tank, I'd opt in on the 75'-100' you can use everywhere and save the headaches. Read Less

Answer:
I believe the answer to a 50ft cable with this device would be no. Mainly because of the housing size for the cable it comes with. They would probably have to make a thinner cable to accommodate 50ft in the housing, which would probably compromise the ability to be an effective pipe cleaning tool. My guess is that they may come out with a slightly larger model with a 50ft cable sometime in the future...

The fixed length is based upon the 5/16th. cable size and housing dimensions. And you would not want a longer length with this device as the cable kink and crimps when extended making it useless. You could probably buy one for $25 but your expectations are probably to high for this piece of equipment. Notice how they now advertise "Sink, Tub and Shower Drain Cleaner". Hoping to throw on a knuckle would allow the device to kink up quicker.
I'm telling all you guys out there to invest in something a little more substantial #like 1/2"-5/8" and 50'-100'# and: #1# you'll get what you need; #2# you'll have it for a while; #3# you'll save money in the long run. I use the Home Depot Rentals every year and half to two years. This unit is however good to pull a plunger and run out a few feet if that's what you need. Read Less

Rated 3.8 out of 5 by 152 reviewers.
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Junk Used 2X to clear a sink and a toilet, like others have said the auto feed is grade A junk. It does not work and you will ultimately have to use your hands to advance or retract.. The last time I used it it hit a clog the line kinked and and just tangled, even when reversing. Needless to say it was not fun when it untangled. Wish I could take it back but I'm stuck with this piece of garbage. April 24, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Works on small clogs or kitchen sinks The concept seems ridgit and looks like it will last you forever. So much good stuff about it. Price to high ! Heavy when you hold it in your hands for long period 1-2h puts significant strain on hands .my hands are hurting even 4h later. You need both hands to hold the machine, you can't feed the snake with one as you need to hold to auto feeder. The problem with Auto feeder it takes forever to push the snake in. I had truble knowing how much of it went in the pipe , and still didn't reach clogged spot in pipe. Once the cable came out completly, 25feet and no way of knowing it. After working on 2 sink drains and then taking toilet out . Pipe still clogged called Rotto Rooter $250 and 20min later pipe cleared. Might be good for homeowner clearing kitchen sink or bathtub but way to Much $ for home owner. April 15, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Works great, but make sure you buy a new one! Bought one the night before Thanksgiving, it was the last box on the shelf, the box looked sort of beat up, but I was desperate to clear the kitchen drain line. Thanksgiving was coming. After opening the box on Thanksgiving morning, its very apparent the unit was used, the hose is dirty, the snake is corroded/encrusted in spots, the plastic hose had a crack on the rubber attachment and the bottom of the box has water stains. Of course the documentation was also missing. After getting over the feeling of feeling like an idiot for buying a used drain cleaning, it was fairly easy to figure out how to use the unit and get my drain clog cleared. Aside from being "used", the unit is pretty nice, sufficient power to crank the snake and small enough to it into the under sink cabinet. The remote foot petal is a nice idea, probably more useful for bathrooms than being hunched under the kitchen sink....but it was nice to be able to activate the motor using my knees to press the foot petal thing. If this were a brand new unit, I'd be totally thrilled and giving it five stars. The beat up box should have been a clue that something was up with this item. (yeah, i'm too trusting, just thought it was sitting on the shelf for too many inventory cycles and got beat up by handling.) Looks like I'll be spending black Friday at Home Depot trying to get a refund or some kind of partial refund for getting an used/damaged item. I can't believe someone used this thing and somehow returned it to Home Depot and it got put back on the shelf. Like I said, if this were in "new" condition, I would give it a 5 star rating. Wish this thing were around when I was a kid, its a definite improvement over the hand crank units. November 26, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Does what it's supposed to do It removed lots and lots of hair from our bathtub drain so now it is running smoothly again. A handy little item. I've only owned it for a month or two so I can't speak for its durability, but it does what it is supposed to do. May 3, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Easy to use. Great product. Much better than the hand drill ones. No more hand fatigue. April 26, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by junk I bought this product because it was a Home Depot brand and thought it would be of good quality. I was very wrong and now am left with a junk product that does not work! The auto feed worked for me a couple of times and now does not work at all. I am also having double finding replacement parts to try and fix a fairly new product. Please don't waste your money on this you will be sorry! I truly wish I never did. March 23, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Worth every penny I have an older home that is always getting clogs. I got tired of calling the plumber and bought this to unclog a shower drain/bath sink pipes. The line is very long (we used about 15-20 feet of the 50ft) and the electric foot pedal made feeding the line through quick and easy. The snake grabbed the clog and pulled it right out. The clog was gone within minutes. I highly recommend this product for your basic plumbing needs. March 15, 2016
