How did I get this item repaired?

I have had this about 4 years and don't have the receipt.

Home Depot was kind enough to exchange 2 for me but #3 is sitting in shop with a kinked cable. I was unable to secure the MFG Warranty but I did try. Each of mine only worked a few times successfully then went south. I believe the manufacturers web site has a way to send in for repair estimates but you may find the cost leaves you needing another unit unless it is something small like a switch.

The two "paddles" on the end of the hose control the feed. You hold the handle at the end of the hose in your hand(s) and point the cable towards the drain. Squeezing one paddle against the handle feeds the cable OUT. Squeezing the other paddle feeds the cable back IN. Dead simple to use. It works via a pair of roller bearings that are mounted at an angle under the paddles that put pressure on the spiral cable when you squeeze the paddle. The angled bearings against the spiral wound cable serve as a sort of "screw drive" that force the cable in or out . It's SLOW - but it works.

Very, very doubtful. It does not have a cutting head typically found on larger, 4-inch sewer pipe machines. There may be accessories available per an additional purchase that would make cleaning roots possible, but only on smaller diameter pipe.

Auto-Clean K-30 Sink, Tub and Shower Drain Cleaner is rated 3.8 out of 5 by 199.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not As Advertised The K-30 claims to have a 30' cable length but falls roughly 3' short of that. I needed to clean out a 27' drain pipe and was only able to get 23.5' into the drain pipe. The blockage is towards the tail end of the drain pipe so I was unable to unplug the last 3'. I wish I would of purchased a different drain snake but it's to late now.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Paid for itself I had two clogged drains- a basement shower and the kitchen sink. I brought up a big hairball about 5' down the shower and a bunch of sludge in the kitchen. The machine worked great and it has already paid for itself on day 1.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Inexperienced Plumber Once initial set up is complete and you read the instructions, it does a fine job. Far exceeds the manual sneak cleaners. LOVE the guide hose and the auto-feed.

I am really good about unclogging any drain with a super hard coned rubber plunger, but this time. Our bathroom sink was draining slow for 2 months, no matter what we tried from plunging to cleaners, nothing would unclog it, even taking the drain apart and trying manual snakes, no luck! Well for $130 bucks this little machine was cheaper than having a plumber come for just one time would have cost this much anyway. I took this machine out of the box and removed the drain for a better clearance and poof, I think it went down about 8 feet and I pulled up a dryer sheet block holding hair and keeping everything draining down at a snails pace, but Auto-Clean K-30 did the job first shot.

I've been in the plumbing trade for 17 yrs now and always relied on my handheld Rigid drain cleaner. After seeing some of the positive reviews on this machine I decided to give it a try. I purchased one yesterday and had a customer with a clogged tub so this was the perfect test and must say it worked GREAT! 10 mins later I was done with the clogged drain. Only con I would say is that the feed is a bit slow but its fine by me.

Worked very well for the first 4-5 snaking of pipes. after that , the machine acted like it couldn't push the cable out or draw it back in. I did notice that this company , had come out with a newer type of model....Looks the same , but a little different. Wonder what that's about ????? I have an idea. I'd keep my money and get something else. :(
