Product Overview

Utilizing Avallon’s exclusive InvisiMist drain technology, this 12,000 BTU portable air conditioner liberates you from ever having to drain an internal reservoir again. As warm air and humidity are normally associated, this portable air conditioner (PAC) is engineered to remove up to 80 pints of moisture from your air per day. In many cases, the unit’s self-evaporative function will expel the majority of air moisture. However, in high-humidity environments, self-evaporation is not enough. Excess water accumulates in the internal reservoir and, to prevent itself from overflowing onto your floor, a PAC will automatically turn off. This can happen at any time and will require you to manually drain the PAC. The InvisiMist system solves this problem. Consisting of an internal drain pump, a water line and our InvisiMist nozzle, the system automatically turns on when water accumulates and safely disposes of it through the easy-to-assemble window kit. This unit is more powerful than other 12,000 BTU PACs, cooling your space up to 40% more quickly because of its dual-hose air system, which separates intake and exhaust, allowing for more air intake and cooling power. The three adjustable fan speeds allow you to customize the unit’s operations to suit your cooling preferences. Included casters enable you move this PAC to wherever you need it, and the included remote with LED display allows you to easily change operating settings from anywhere in the room.

Customer Questions & Answers

Why two hoses? Noise level not stated...why?

Can't I leave one hose off and let the intake come from the room air itself the same way window air conditioners do? If the unit is taking air that already has dropped in temperature due to the cooling action of the unit, then it seems it would be easier to keep cooling that air than bringing in much hotter air from outside and needing to cool that. And I notice many other standalones only have one hose. Wondering how is two more efficient as the description claims. Is there any reason why there is no noise rating listed (dbA)? How loud is this unit? I thought the question about being able to watch TV was humorous but I get what was being ask -- it is LOUD, which seems to be a universal problem with these units where the noisy compressors are INSIDE the room, not outside the window like regular window air conditioners. It worries me that it has no "sleep mode since A/C units that have sleep mode do so as a way to quiet them down at night.

There is no noise rating listed because it is EXTREMELY loud. Wish I could return it.

can i get a replacement window kit?

Asked by: maintenanceman
I suggest you build your own using insulating foam board. It cost me $5.00 instead of $60.00 and I was able to make it fit perfectly.

My window slides sideway not up and down

My window slides sideways. Will this kit fit in that type of configuration?
Asked by: Chris
All portable ACs will work in a sliding window type setting but require some modification. You will need a window panel that fits the height of the window. Some manufacturers provide additional panels for purchase to accommodate a sliding window or door. If they don't, with a little creativity, you can make one for yourself. I bought a length of pine shelving for $6, cut holes for the hoses, cut it to the size of my sliding window--done.

12,000 BTU Dual Hose Portable Air Conditioner with InvisiMist Smart Drain Technology is rated 3.4 out of 5 by 18.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Right AC For Me The most important factors for my purchase was dual vent (look it up). It keeps inside air in and hot, outside air out. Single vent systems don't do that as well, in my opinion. The other great feature? Automatic dehumidification and venting of condensation via spray through exhaust hose: genius! Depending I don't know why they don't promote this unit more. The various modes and the color-coordinated panel-per-mode is great when you wonder what mode it is in and what it is doing. Nice remote with timed on or off, so you are not freezing your buns off or wasting electricity. Still new, so I have not experienced any issues, but my initial reaction is that this is a good unit from a US company.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Portable AC.....better than nothing at all Having come from homes with refrigerated air, when it actually began to heat up in Santa Fe, I figured we better try and get a portable A/C. Our home's windows crank out and don't lend themselves to the classic in-window unit. This unit cools a small area at best. It is better than nothing, but I can't say I would buy another.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Could never hook this up. I had to return this. The two hoses sent with the unit were different sizes (should have been identical), and neither of them worked with the fittings included. Very frustrating.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Does what I bought it for. It was easy enough to put together but it requires a lot of room so if you have a small room like I do, prepare rearrange and fight a little bit. The hoses are not as flexible as I would have liked but once I got it into the window, it worked pretty good. I do think it is a bit expensive considering how awkward it is.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Can't recommend this one, too many design problems The cool air outlet has almost no direction control. The outlet only always very slight left/right but no up or down movement. The way the intake/exhaust hoses are designed, the a/c has to be set two feet from the window or wall. The very bright LED lights around the power buttons never turn off, so it makes using it in the bedroom useless. I don't understand why designers do that, but it lit up the bedroom so brightly we couldn't sleep.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Decent Portable Air Conditioner I decided to purchase the Avallon portable air conditioner over a window unit for my apartment based on research and reviews. The unit does a decent job of keeping my bedroom cool. Having the drain hose with mister at the end directed through the exhaust hose is a plus for those in humid climates. The front light panel can be switched off for night use. Having a remote is also useful and snaps onto the top of the unit. Moving the unit is also fairly easy but may require some effort on different surface types such a thick carpet. Negative aspects of the unit would be that the instructions are not very clear especially with connecting the dual hoses as the hoses are not the same size. The windows panel is a poor design and I had to cut off a section on one of the adjustable plates to fit into my window seal and it flexes. Considering the base of the panel is shallow you may have to secure it with duct tape otherwise it may push out easily when connecting the hoses. The compressor may also be slightly noisy when active in cooling mode. Overall the unit does a decent job, but is not a good value at the $499 price point.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Missing the included water line. I bought this unit because I was thrilled to try the Invisimist feature that wouldn't require me to drain it. When it arrived, the water line, which is required in order to use the Invisimist feature, was not included, despite it saying on the box and in the manual that it was included. Upon reading the manual, it states the quick connect adapter must be used on the end of the water line in order for it to pump water at all. So, long story short, if I try to attach something of my own to the drain, it won't recognize it, which means the pump won't even turn on. I am absolutely disgusted.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from extremely noisy, impossible to use at night This unit is so loud it can only be operated during the day with the T.V. on maximum volume. Forget trying to sleep. The instructions were extremely difficult to follow to put it together. It was missing parts, and there's a rather-important part sitting in the box that isn't shown in the instructions at all. Seems to work without it, but I wish I hadn't bought this. Very disappointed in noise level.
