Product Overview

Utilizing Avallon’s exclusive InvisiMist drain technology, the APAC140HC liberates you from ever having to drain an internal reservoir again. As warm air and humidity are normally associated, we engineered this portable air conditioner (PAC) to remove up to 86 pints of moisture from your air per day. In many cases, the APAC140HC’s self-evaporative function will expel the majority of air moisture. However, in high humidity environments, self-evaporation is not enough. Excess water accumulates in the internal reservoir and, to prevent itself from overflowing onto your floor, a PAC will automatically turn off. This can happen at any time and will require you to manually drain the PAC. The InvisiMist system solves this problem. Consisting of an internal drain pump, a water line and our InvisiMist nozzle, the InvisiMist system automatically turns on when water accumulates and safely disposes of it through the easy-to-assemble window kit. This unit is more powerful than other 14,000 BTU PACs, cooling your space up to 40% more quickly because of its dual hose air system, which separates intake and exhaust, allowing for more air intake and cooling power. The three (3) adjustable fan speeds allow you to customize the unit’s operations to suit your cooling preferences. In addition, this PAC features a heat function, which makes it the perfect unit to use all year round to fulfill your heating and cooling needs.

Customer Questions & Answers

Does this have a auto off like if the room gets to 73 degrees and it's on 73 will it cut off?

Asked by: Jessie
Yes, there's a thermostat in the unit, that will cut the unit off once the programmed temperature has been reached, whether heating or cooling. Just like a household thermostat.

Do you have vent covers for winter shutdown. I believe the diameter is 5 inch.

Will this restart on its own and continue to cool after a power failure?

Asked by: wayne

What size window opening is needed?

I'm considering this in an unusual application that has an odd size window, so I need to ensure this will fit. Checked the manual and found nothing.

This Avallon unit saved our bacon during multiple heat waves " Our old central AC unit died. We didn't have the funds to spring for replacement. So my husband ordered this. It took us through 2016's record heatwave filled summer. He set it up in 30 minutes. We saw a decrease in our electric bill as well. In late Fall when the temperature dropped to 36°F, we decided to use the heating feature. It performed as hoped and kept us very comfortable once again. We were hoping it would heat and cool one level of our small 4 bedroom 1500 Sq. ft. home, but mostly due to the layout with multiple rooms and doors upstairs, it doesn't. However it works well in our 20' X 16' room. Be prepared if you do buy it- the unit is huge and very loud. There’s a limited range remote that controls all of the functions but on the unit itself there's only an on/off button. Which I think was short sighted, after all, remote controls do break or get lost. We were coming back for a second unit for downstairs, which we think will work effectively, due to the more open floor plan. The information and installation guide was easy to understand however, improvement is needed in regarding the set up of the heating part of the unit.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Cools Great, Heats Good. Mine shipped without the piece that goes in the window. HD support took care of that for me in just a couple of days. Unit has worked fine for the last year and not having to empty the water tank is great. The only issue is the remote has gone bad which is what brought me here today. I was trying to find out when I had purchased the unit to see what the warranty is. Home Depot says its 5 years but that is only the compressor. Everything else is only a year including the remote. You can't make any changes once the remote fails. The unit just stays on what its last setting was. There are no controls on the unit itself just an on/off button for the unit and another on/off button for the lights on the front. If Avalon comes thru on the remote then I will update my review but as of now I wouldn't recommend the unit just for the simple fact that there is no way to control the unit once the remote fails.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well engineered AC We purchased this Avallon air conditioner for use at home. Assembly was quick and effortless and the built in misting setup to evacuate the excess water in the reservoir is a nice touch, separate intake and exhaust ducting and the handy remote are all great features. Unlike cheaper units that we've seen this Avallon unit is well engineered and should last a long trouble free time. We've used it several times already and it works AWESOME!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Blow's a lot of hot air! I rated the product at fair because it did blow out great hot air. The unit's was stuck in the heat position and would not switch out of it to cool. My brother and I both called the manufacture several time, after hold for 10-15 minutes got sent to a voice mail that said "leave a message they will call you back in 24 hours". That was 2 weeks ago still no call's back. I returned the unit to Home Depot and they refunded my money.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Strong A/C This portable a/c really does the job. Currently, it's installed in a 15x22 room with high ceilings and cools very quickly to 68 degrees. Located in Central Ohio, our heat can be really hot with high humidity. It's fairly quiet, and it does a good job removing moisture without the need to empty the holding tank. We are utilizing the mister that is included with the unit. Although, I've never seen any water expelled from it. A little expensive, but worth the extra money.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great Air Conditioner but Poor Heater First of all keep in mind that up to 40% of all portable air conditioners are returned to the store because they fail to live up to expectations. That said, the air conditioning part of this product worked great for me. But one of the reasons I selected this particular model was because it was also supposed to perform as a heater. Unfortunately it wasn't until after the return period that I discovered the heating portion of this is laughable. Not in the Owners Manual, but in the fine print online did they state this product is intended to provide "supplemental heat only" since it does not work when the outside temperature gets below 61 degrees F. What kind of heater only works above 61 degrees? What a rip off. I still rated it three stars because in an industry of woefully deficient portable air conditioners, this one was far superior to the other two I took back.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from It may be too expensive for what you get. Works ok but will not freeze you out. Works well It really does not freeze me out like I was hoping. I have it in a little bigger than average master bedroom and it keeps it cool but not COLD. LOVE LOVE LOVE the fact that I do not have to empty out the water at all so far. To my knowledge The spray has never come on to empty the tank. Make sure you use the correct flex discharge hose with the hole in it cut out for the sprayer hose to feed into. ALSO, In the part box you will find two batteries the remote is attached to the top of the unit. The down side is the directional louvers, they do not allow for too much variation in air flow.
