This is a 4 1/2" Avanti PRO metal cutoff wheel with a 7/8" arbor hole (most common size for 4 1/2" angle grinder). As the name suggests it is for cutting metal. It can handle a maximum 13,280 RPM which is higher than most single speed angle grinders. It makes quick work of cutting through and slotting pipe or sheet metal or even angle iron. This is a very thin 1/16th" wheel for a thin kerf and it also cuts faster than a thicker wheel would. The one drawback of a thin wheel like this is it will wear out faster. However, as you can see in the video, you barely tell it was used after cutting through the 1/2" conduit a couple of times so you will get several cuts with it before it does wear out. Keep in mind that when a wheel is used numerous times it becomes brittle and therefore could crack and shatter (not good if your using it at the time). When it starts looking worn put a new one on.

This disc is made for cutting metal using a angle grinders. It's made of Aluminum oxide formulation for super fast material removal. When cutting several pieces on 1/2" and 3/4" angle iron, it didn't take much effort to cut through it. It didn't use a lot of the dics so it does last long the the cheap one you buy at other stores. The discs is only 1/16" thick so you don't waste a lot of material cutting the pieces. Maximum RPM is 13,280. Overall I am happy with the product.

You can't go wrong with this blade if you need cutting power for almost any metal. The first thing I used it for was to trim an I-beam in my house to allow trim boards to better fit. It cut very well and diddn't completely wear down like some other blades I've had. And steel is super hard, so cutting copper or rebar or fencing should be a snap. Highly recommended.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by RJJ21 It works but cuts slowly
I used the Avanti Thin Kerf Metal Cut-Off Disc to cut through a few 1/2 inch bolts and some angle iron. While it did complete the cuts and I did not experience any failures of the product, I did find that it cut slower than products by other manufacturers. The disk fit my 4-1/2 inch angle grinder with no problems and was held securely in the grinder hub mechanism.

With no major projects on the "to-do" list involving cutting of steel, but anxious to try out this cutting disk, I cut a number of slots in a piece of steel channel to evaluate its performance compared to my usual cutting disk. While installing the disk, it felt a little "looser" on the arbor and, when measured, the hole was about 0.001 inch larger than my usual disk, however, it did not appear to affect the operation or accuracy of the disk when cutting. I did note that it cuts a little slower than I am used to for similar disks and tended to leave "burn" marks and slag on the back side of the cut. For normal cutting this will not be a problem. If you are making small, finely detailed pieces as, for example, a sculpture, additional clean up of the cut edges may be necessary. Wear rate of the disk did not seem out of the expected range (this will vary with the type and thickness of material as well as how much "finesse" you use when cutting...not forcing the disk, but finding its "sweetspot").

We don't own a torch, so we use these little wheels a lot. They work hard to perform for us. We recently cut the tops off of metal fence posts to make a decorative fence around some new plantings in our yard. One of these did the whole job and there is plenty of disc left for the next project. These go onto a little angle grinder perfectly. Very pleased!

The price is right if you want a light duty cut off disc. I don't think this thin disc was really intended for any kind of heavy duty use, but that should be stated in the product description or specifications. We didn't have a problem installing or using the disc, but because it is very thin, I don't expect it to last a long while. Of course that depends on what you're trying to cut. We used it for aluminum corrugated material, so not a big challenge there for a cutting wheel.
