Answer:
you can use a sprayer to apply. we purchased one of the small pump style sprayers and it worked great. would not recommend thinning it as that will affect the product, coverage and durability.

Answer:
Dear Jimmy,
You can apply our BEHR® Transparent Waterproofing Wood Finish using a pad applicator, nylon/polyester brush, 3/8" nap roller or an airless sprayer with a .015 - .019" tip. However, we do not recommend thinning our finish before application. Please follow all label instructions.
Thank you and good luck with your project!

Answer:
Dear MDSchade,
The BEHR Transparent Waterproofing Wood Finish is recommended for properly prepared new to slightly weathered, unsealed exterior wood surfaces (0-5 years exposure). This product can be used on a Cedar Pergola, however you can expect a slightly darker finish after staining due to the product being lightly toned.
Thank you for posting the question!

Answer:
Hi MDSchade,
This product will work fine for your application. While it is a clear product you can expect the wood to take on a darker appearance after application.

Answer:
It will seal and waterproof but will change the shade to one just a bit darker than natural. You can still see the wood grain though but it does have just a bit of color.

In 2006 we applied the Transparent Waterproofing Wood Finish/penetrating OIL formula.
In 2012 we sanded and applied what I was told by Home Depot was the same product, transparent waterproofing wood finish, only nothing to indicate it is OIL, but 100 % Acrylic ? To our dismay, in 2013 the deck started flaking and we're not happy campers. Now in 2014, we're having to sand the deck AGAIN. What do we have to use to solve this problem ? There are steps and railing that we haven't had to do anything to since 2006 using the original OIL formula. They're still beautiful. Need help. Fall is coming and we need to get this done.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by quality I rolled the product on my fencing material and it was simple easy and high quality. December 9, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by great product used pump sprayer to apply to fence looks fantastic March 1, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Decks look great My 2 decks are each 10'x12' and are 5 years old. They had only ever been treated with Thompson's clear wood protector, which was ultra-easy to apply but which didn't seem to last very long. The steps, in particular, tended to quickly lose water repellency and would absorb water readily after just a couple of months. I prepped the wood by spraying it with OxyClean powder in water and scrubbing with a stiff bristle brush. This was a very cheap alternative to deck scrub and it took the gray mold coating right off. After thorough drying over 2 days, I applied the stain using a 1-gallon pump sprayer followed by spreading with a pad. The first coat was walkable within an hour, and I applied the second thin coat at the 2-hour mark. That coat also dried relatively quickly and I was able to walk on it not too long afterward, although I minimized foot travel for the recommended 72 hours. The decks have a rich look with some visible grain and the coating feels like it has a bit of depth (compared to the lack of any depth after using Thompson's). It took a bit more than a gallon to put 2 thin coats on each of the 120-square-foot decks plus about 25 square feet of steps. I was careful to follow instructions regarding weather (acceptable temperature range and no rain for 24 hours). The cost was around twice what Thompson's costs but I'm hoping the protection lasts a lot longer. December 8, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Read the label My only caveat is that it takes a loooooonnnnng time to dry. 72 hours before treading upon. My wife just about got stuck to the deck because she didn't believe me. Applies easily with a roller September 24, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Ease of use and cleanup This product was used on a weathered split rail fence and the coverage was excellent. November 9, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Behr waterproofing wood finish I have been using this product on our dock at the lake and it works extremely well on wood dock exposed to weather all year. November 10, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Behr wood stain Applied easily but I ran out of product. Also itdrieddarker than I had anticipated. But still looks good November 6, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Better than the higher priced premium product I used the premium product with silicone in the past, but it peeled horribly after one year. This product has provided protection and has sealed the deck and stopped the peeling. Sometimes the "best" isn't always the best! I recommend this over the premium product. October 20, 2015
