can this be painted by spray gun

can this be painted by spray gun

Pretty much all stains can be applied with a sprayer. For best results, one should "backbrush" as one sprays to ensure the finish gets in all the cracks and crevices and to get even results.

I applied cedar naturaltone and do not like the results at all. It has a strange light orange color, not natural at all. Can I apply a darker stain?

Asked by: Snickelfritz
I have used this stain twice on my deck. The second time was by mistake. You are right...it resembles old, rusty water and dries to the same color. I would recommend living with the stain for 2 or three years then cleaning and restaining with a better product. The extra $10-15 per gallon will be amazing. I wish I could remember the name of the stain I used originally. It was great. Looked like real cedar. But, it ws more money. It's true: you get what you pay for.

Our deck was built in November. Avg temp 50 degrees. Is it too cold to stain before winter sets in?

Asked by: Anonymous
Dear Gail, This product can be applied between 40-90˚F (4.5-32˚C). Do not use if rain is expected within 24 hours. The wood surface must be completely dry before application. Thank you for posting the question!

is this available in 5 gal pails naturaltone semi-transparent cedar stain

Asked by: Anonymous
Yes, premade and off the shelf. Unfortunately it doesn't save you much money over gallon pails.

1 gal. Deck Plus Tint Base Semi-Transparent Waterproofing Wood Stain is rated 3.8 out of 5 by 56.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Worst product ever! I bought this product a year ago. We did all the necessary prep with the recommended products and painted in ideal temperature. It was a pain in the butt to apply. Incredible touchy and streaky. you noticed every drop, heavy application, or hot spot. I thought it will be worth it when it's finished! Fast forward a year and the deck is peeling! The hose takes it off in chunks, the leaf blower, and even a push broom! I can't wait to strip it and restain it. * enter sarcasm here*

Rated 5 out of 5 by from All my cedar projects look GREAT!!! I build a lot of rough and smooth cedar projects; fences, lattice, pergolas, decks, furniture, outdoor cabinets, and more. As a professional, I demand a quality finish that my clients ooh and aah over. Behr Wood Stain does just that! Its easy to apply and clean up is quick. Best of all my clients call me back to do more. I've used Behr products for 15 years and never had a bad experience. Definitely I would recommend Behr. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product for outdoor cedar fence I was recommended to use this top end product by a friend and have to say I am more than pleased with the results. I used it on my front yard over year ago and it looks like new. The fence gets full San Diego sun all day and has not faded or peeled. The only touch-up required is to spots my cats use to to dig their claws into the fence to jump over. A little touch-up and it blend it right in. I am now doing my back yard and the color match is perfect. This time I used a Graco spray gun for my first coat which saved a lot of time. I still needed to brush in some spots where the grain was tight. Second coat always goes on real fast and that is when the true color pops out at you. The cleanup with soap and water makes all the difference in the world for me. Real easy and fast. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful Product I applied this wood stain to a deck that had been completed but unfinished and weathered for 5 years. It was a total transformation. It made my deck look brand new again. The product was easy to apply and rain beaded nicely on top of it. If you have not stained in a long time...or ever, don't be surprised if the stain in the can does not look like the color you chose. My brown stain looked grey in the can and at first application. We were afraid at first that the wrong color had been mixed but after a few minutes we could see the true color as the product dried. I have no complaints about the product and would recommend it to anyone.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Great Deck Stain I used this semi-transparent stain on my cabin deck in North Carolina which is at 5,000ft elevation. It gets pretty rough up there during the winter and this stain has performed great. It went on well with good coverage. Got the exact color I wanted. Highly recommend it. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Behr deck stain I had applied Behr Premium Semi-Transparent Stain 2 years ago and it began peeling. Since it is guaranteed 5 years, I called Behr and they set me up to receive a re-reimbursement check for the stain, stripper and wood cleaner. I had read some blogs by people who said trying to remove the old stain didn't work. I am here to say that if you follow the directions on the can for the stripper, and washer you can remove the stain. The secret is you have to work at it and when it says to apply stripper, wait 30-45 minutes and then have a stiff brush and water and need to work at it, that is what it means. After all it is a stain that goes into the wood and just doesn't flake off. I will tell you that I followed the instructions and re-applied the stain and it turned out beautiful. The customer service I received and the advice was right on target. Yes it took work, but Behr stood behind their product.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!! Followed the application directions exactly. Used this to stain my entire deck including flooring, vertical spindles, handrails and lattice. After 6 months, it began wearing off the flooring and handrails. Now, a year and a half later it is almost completely worn off of everything, including vertical surfaces. Now I need to waste more time and money to sand and re-stain my deck with a different product that will actually last. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
