Hello Ddub,
Great question. Yes, our Solid Color Stain can adhere to a wood filler as long as it's paintable. I would also recommend letting the filler fully cure before using our stain.
Best regards,
Kevin

Hi Gxmoon,
Yes, our Solid Color Waterproofing Wood Stain can be applied on top of an existing coating, as long as the old paint or stain is in good condition. To prepare the deck, we recommend cleaning the surface with our All-In-One Wood Cleaner, which can be viewed here: http://www.homedepot.com/p/BEHR-Premium-1-gal-All-In-One-Wood-Cleaner-06301N/203200559. Answer:
Hello Scott0472,
Thanks for your question. It could be sprayed with an HVLP spray gun as long as it has a tip size of 0.015-0.019" and a 60 mesh filter and the sprayer manufacturer can recommend using it with a 100% acrylic stain like ours. Please check with them to verify this. Best wishes for your project!

Rated 4.3 out of 5 by 107 reviewers.
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by STICKY SITUATION Stain went on easily and covered well. Only a few days after it dried sap began seeping from the knots in the wood. Customer service has sent me a couple gals. of Behr's deck cleaning product. ...NICE ...Have not had the chance to apply it. C/S seemed confident the application would remedy the sticky situation. ...will have more to say when I apply the deck cleaner and evaluate the job afterwards. June 24, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Stain to feel good about After pressure washing the exterior walls and allowing to dry, went about applying stain to 2 sides of the house by brush. Application was relatively easy, although some of the cedar clapboard siding had deteriorated significantly due to lack of maintenance. These areas required some extra brushing in order to achieve coverage. Drying time was fairly fast, enough so that when some rain came about 4 hours after finishing, the stain did not wash off or leak and went on to dry thoroughly. Had done the other 2 sides of the house 6 months ago. Whole house looks great, although the intention is to apply a second coat next year. Quality is supposed to be very good, but time will tell. Very pleased with price/quality (if holds up) based on Consumer Reports ratings. Really good deal when purchased during Home Depot paint rebate sale times. September 27, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great product, great price! I was already planning to purchase Behr stain for my house due to the great review by Consumer Reports when the Labor Day Sale came up! I was very pleased with color and how well it went on the Cedar siding. Highly recommended! September 28, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Exact color I was looking for Color was beautiful, good coverage, long drying time. Requires 2 coats. Absolutely no gloss to the finish, so dust and dirt settle and stay. It would be perfect if it set to a harder finish. Doesn't wear well on stair edges, or anything that takes abuse of any kind. Perfect for upright material that doesn't take abuse of any type. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Looks good after 10 years, but faded We decided to stain the whole house after redoing an addition. The old can of Behr stain left over from the previous staining was dated 2006. Other then some fading, the house still looks great - no cracks, chips, or peeling. A similar product at Lowe's was the exact same price - but the can contained several ounces less product. September 12, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great product!!! This wood stain product is excellent. I have a summer cabin that has redwood siding that is over 40 years old. Because this cabin is at 7500 feet and cannot be acessed for about 6 months of winter, normal deck/wood stain needs to be redone every year and the stain doesn't look very good either. This Behr product makes the cabin siding look new and it still looks as if it was just put on 8 months later after going through a heavy winter. August 16, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent coverage, spreadability, color I have used this previously (Weatherproofing Stain - acrylic base 5013) with great results. Recently I used it on previously oil-finished deck uprights that had faded away after 7 years. I pressure washed and let it dry a lengthy period, then wiped down before application. The product spread very easily, adhered quickly and well. We are in the PNW and the UV is only harsh a few months a year, but the water is incessant all other times, and mildew is always a problem. This works great in that challenging environment. This is cheaper in the long run than lower priced options. Win-win. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] August 16, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Sadly Disappointed We have always had great success with other Behr products and viewing all the reviews of this product, we expected the same great quality. We were disappointed. We prepped the deck as recommended with Behr All in One Wood Cleaner abd a power washer. Once dry after a few days of hot sun, we did the first coat. It looked great. Did a second coat on the deck boards two days later and reveled in how good it looked. Well, a few days after it was chipping and staining. How sad and how expensive! We bought four gallons and used three and will have to purchase some other product to fix this mess. July 8, 2016
