Hello jason,
Thanks for your question. Yes, this stain of ours can be applied over either water- or oil-based primers, so this would be no problem at all. Please be sure to follow all label instructions. Best wishes for your shed project!

Hi Shaun!
Thanks for writing in! It's okay to use the Solid Color Wood Stain over a polyurethane that's in good condition. To prepare the surface, it's recommended to lightly sand the coating, and clean the project with something like the No. 63 All-in-One Cleaner. Since the Solid Stain is a film-forming product, the final color will be which over shade you pick. Hope this helps, and good luck on your Read More

Rated 5 out of 5 by from SC-113 Gettysburg Solid Color House Stain - 2 gallons. Bought this stain primarily due to its lower price - I wanted to re-stain my older yard shed, but not spend a lot of money. Wood surface was pretty rough from weathering, etc., so when I put on the primer I had to use a brush to get into all the 'nooks and crannies'. I wasn't sure how well the finish coat would cover, but I'm very satisfied with the "Gettysburg Blue" shade and coverage with only one finish coat applied. Brush application went fairly well with only some isolated locations needing a second 'touch-up' coat of this stain. Passing of time will be the final judge on how long the stain remains looking as good as it started out!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Versitile wood stain I am an "old school" painter/handyman using only oil base stains and primers when I started painting with my grandfather in 1968. Well the years have significantly changed the paint products available to use (especially in California). But this stain on wood siding/other wood products I find it flows on,has good coverage/hide, has a " wet edge" or wet time to soak in, and levels out like an oil base product AND is reasonably priced! To top it off it is a oil/latex mix, so it cleans up with water(no paint thinner to clean up). [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best lower price stain out there ..... I have used Behr for the last ten years since the "Other" major brand is no longer carried by Home Depot. I find it to be an excellent product on railings and fences.... I did my fences in Dark brown ( the Pre-made type fence panels) , the deck railings in White, and the porch ( 15 year formula) in Cape Cod Gray. Easy prep work (Mop and rinse , let dry) and I have never had any peel or lift after ten years and multiple coats.... Great product , good coverage . I always brush it on (and in) , for good penetration. I have never tried to roll it or spray it, though my Father has done his 1958 Redwood siding home with a sprayer the last 2 times using this product . Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to use, looks great We used this stain in solid Slate to stain our backyard fence. It was very easy to use, went on with just one coat and has made a beautiful and bold statement. I've never stained wood before and had no problems, anyone could use this.
