Hello alex,
We appreciate your question. This product is both a waterproofer and a stain for the wood it covers. The semi-transparent finish will allow some of the color of the wood and the wood grains to show through. Well wishes for your project!

Hello Bo,
We appreciate your question. This wood stain of ours is a water-based product (100% acrylic). If wanting to apply it, we'd recommend only doing so on bare wood as it adheres by penetrating into the surface. Specifically, our Weatherproofing line is designed with advanced Nanoguard technology which holds the dried coating molecules together more closely, allowing for overall better durability. That's why we give a greater longevity for the Premium stains versus the midline, while the midline is still highly durable in its multi-weather resistance. Well wishes!

1-gal. #ST-113 Gettysburg Semi-Transparent Waterproofing Wood Stain is rated 3.8 out of 5 by 123.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from All my cedar projects look GREAT!!! I build a lot of rough and smooth cedar projects; fences, lattice, pergolas, decks, furniture, outdoor cabinets, and more. As a professional, I demand a quality finish that my clients ooh and aah over. Behr Wood Stain does just that! Its easy to apply and clean up is quick. Best of all my clients call me back to do more. I've used Behr products for 15 years and never had a bad experience. Definitely I would recommend Behr. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product for outdoor cedar fence I was recommended to use this top end product by a friend and have to say I am more than pleased with the results. I used it on my front yard over year ago and it looks like new. The fence gets full San Diego sun all day and has not faded or peeled. The only touch-up required is to spots my cats use to to dig their claws into the fence to jump over. A little touch-up and it blend it right in. I am now doing my back yard and the color match is perfect. This time I used a Graco spray gun for my first coat which saved a lot of time. I still needed to brush in some spots where the grain was tight. Second coat always goes on real fast and that is when the true color pops out at you. The cleanup with soap and water makes all the difference in the world for me. Real easy and fast. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Great Deck Stain I used this semi-transparent stain on my cabin deck in North Carolina which is at 5,000ft elevation. It gets pretty rough up there during the winter and this stain has performed great. It went on well with good coverage. Got the exact color I wanted. Highly recommend it. Rated 2 out of 5 by from Wait and See I bought several gallons to stain a large deck that had been stained over the years with a different product. This product required two to three coats to cover because it is extremely thin and transparent. That caused me to make two additional purchases of stain to complete the job--more stain by far than I had used in previous years on this deck. For some reason, the stain remained slightly tacky ffor many days after application. Because I have just completed the work, I cannot offer a full review. If this stain holds up over a few years, all the work and expense may be worth it. The stain I used in the past (Wolman's) didn't really last more than one or two years.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fence Redue Used the product on an old fence I was refurbishing. I took the old wooden fence boards off and power washed them. After they dried. I used the wood stain. Turned out great. Sure beats the cost of buying new fence boards. The fence was about 15 years and fairly weathered. Using water and soap for the cleanup was helpful. Saved on brushes.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Labeling of product caused some confusion. The Weatherproofing product and this waterproofing pr... Labeling of product caused some confusion. The Weatherproofing product and this waterproofing product have similar labeling and we started with the weatherproofing product and picked up these to finish project thinking we picked up weatherproofing. Both products stained the same so we were fine with it.
