can this be painted by spray gun

can this be painted by spray gun

Pretty much all stains can be applied with a sprayer. For best results, one should "backbrush" as one sprays to ensure the finish gets in all the cracks and crevices and to get even results.

Our deck was built in November. Avg temp 50 degrees. Is it too cold to stain before winter sets in?

Asked by: Anonymous
Dear Gail, This product can be applied between 40-90˚F (4.5-32˚C). Do not use if rain is expected within 24 hours. The wood surface must be completely dry before application. Thank you for posting the question!

is this oil base?

trying to put another coat on after 10 years of wear. Original was an oil base and we do not seem to be able to find same in NY
Asked by: Bo
Hello Bo, We appreciate your question. This wood stain of ours is a water-based product (100% acrylic). If wanting to apply it, we'd recommend only doing so on bare wood as it adheres by penetrating into the surface. Therefore, we'd recommend stripping the surface with a product like our No. 64 Stripper, cleaning the bare wood with our No. 63 Wood Cleaner, and then applying our stain. Best wishes for your project! -Joshua

What is the difference between Behr stains labeled as "waterproofing" vs. those shown as "weatherproofing"?

Asked by: Don
Weatherproofing stain is intended to seal out UV rays as well as elements (water, snow etc) for 4 to 6 years on exterior wood. Waterproofing stain is intended to seal out UV rays and and water for up to 5 years on decks and up to 15 years on fences and siding. Waterproofing can be used on prepared new to heavily weathered surfaces, while waterproofing should be applied to new to slightly weathered unsealed surfaces.

I am very disappointed with this product and would not even give it a 1 if I didn't have to but you can't submit with a rating. We purchased this in late August 2016, power washed the deck, let it thoroughly dry, followed all the instructions and it is now peeling in large flakes off our deck and wood porch. Unfortunately, I can not describe in words how bad it looks so I took pictures. We can't do anything now in the middle of winter but this summer we will power wash again to remove. Obviously, I will not purchase this brand again and would not recommend to anyone else. It did not meet my expectations.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Wait and See I bought several gallons to stain a large deck that had been stained over the years with a different product. This product required two to three coats to cover because it is extremely thin and transparent. That caused me to make two additional purchases of stain to complete the job--more stain by far than I had used in previous years on this deck. For some reason, the stain remained slightly tacky ffor many days after application. Because I have just completed the work, I cannot offer a full review. If this stain holds up over a few years, all the work and expense may be worth it. The stain I used in the past (Wolman's) didn't really last more than one or two years.

The Weatherproofing product and this waterproofing product have similar labeling and we started with the weatherproofing product and picked up these to finish project thinking we picked up weatherproofing. Both products stained the same so we were fine with it.

There were a few spots that I had to go over more than once, and that was either due to over exposure to the sun or wood damage.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Doesnt Dry Thought I would try oil based finish as I thought it would be more durable. Wrong! I used it on new wood but it didnt penetrate at all. Applied when warm but wont dry. Now I have a sticky mess

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good product I ended up going with the solid color stain because my porch has older wood and the transparent wouldn't cover previous paint splatter. This would be the reason why I only gave it four stars.
