Has very minimal coverage, will need to do 2 coats. Color was not as advertised in stores. Very disappointed with the finished product.

I like the way the stain covers the wood but I was not impressed with how little it covered the surface. I had to use more than I anticipated. After it was all done, it looked good but too costly because I needed a lot.

Like many of you reading this review, I read many negative reviews and thought for sure they just didn't follow all the steps nor take the time to do it right. Please do yourself a favor and read my review.
I had a brand new treated deck that aged and dried for over a year. I thoroughly washed the deck and let it dry for a week before applying any stain. I applied two thin coats with the temperatures over 60 degrees at night and around 75 degrees during the day. It was dry for a week after I applied the stain.
It looked great for the rest of the summer and fall. I thought for sure I was fine. Wrong. As the snow melted, the stain was gone. It made no difference whether it was a place that had carefully shoveled with a plastic blade shovel or a place that I didn't shovel all winter. The stain had worn off.
Please do yourself a favor and stay away from this product. You will be thoroughly disappointed that all the time and money you spent to protect it will leave you extremely disappointed.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Mech Less than one year and my deck looks like .....
Took 3 gallons to completely cover a 12x12 deck, two coats a night mare for side railing. Less than one year later it's all peeling.

This product is not really a stain. A true stain will absorb into the wood and act as a preservative. This product is simply a surface coating and does not weather well AT ALL! It lasted one season and the deck looked bad after one winter. The wood checked and cracked as if there were no treatment whatsoever.
I give a rating of ZERO stars. My recommendation is to use an oil based stain that soaks into the wood

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by kaycee OK. Expect better from Behr products -- Dogs? Beware!
I used this at the beginning of last summer and after a thorough power washing and several days drying time, followed the directions to a tee. Our ~9 year old deck does not appear to have ever seen any stain or weather proofing products, so I thought this would be perfect.
It looked wonderful at first. It was shiny, water beaded on the surface, and after a few days, did not feel sticky to walk on with bare feet.
Then the cold weather came. Maryland winters are not terribly harsh, so not sure if this contributed to it but.....it started flaking off. Mostly when my dogs hit the surface. I have claw marks EVERYWHERE they travel regularly. The steps are the worst.
So just this week, I reluctantly applied two more coats to hide all the flaking. Looks great again, For now.
This is NOT a durable product. Once you start using it, it may not be easy to undo. I couldn't imagine sanding all of this product off. Perhaps it works better in warmer climates. Perhaps it would be better without two 100+ pound dogs using it. Perhaps Behr should re-engineer their product. Who knows?

I started using this product in 2006 and have been using it ever since. I was using a product that had so many health warnings on the label I needed to change. I have used this in 06, 09, 11 and now 14. Really like the soap and water cleanup - and although I reapply every 3 years, that is what the can says for decks. I use TSP followed up with a pressure washer and a Shur Line Deck Pad on a stick and it covers very evenly and I don't have to wreck my knees with a brush. Oh, and my deck was replaced due to tornado damage in 1988 and it looks pretty new. The deck is 12' x 33' with another 65 linear ' of wraparound.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by BMS119 Great product for outdoor cedar fence
I was recommended to use this top end product by a friend and have to say I am more than pleased with the results. I used it on my front yard over year ago and it looks like new. The fence gets full San Diego sun all day and has not faded or peeled.
The only touch-up required is to spots my cats use to to dig their claws into the fence to jump over. A little touch-up and it blend it right in.
I am now doing my back yard and the color match is perfect. This time I used a Graco spray gun for my first coat which saved a lot of time. I still needed to brush in some spots where the grain was tight.
Second coat always goes on real fast and that is when the true color pops out at you.
The cleanup with soap and water makes all the difference in the world for me. Real easy and fast.
