Is this appropriate to paint my 50 year old red brick house (unpainted brick)? Do I need a separate primer? I want to use my airless sprayer. Any issues? thanks.
Asked by: jd
Hello jd, Thank you for your interest in our products. Yes, our paint can be used on your red brick house. However, before painting we recommend cleaning the home of any dirt or grease. Once it's cleaned, then you can apply our paint with an airless sprayer. Best regards, Kevin

Can this paint be used over existing oil-based paints?

Asked by: Anonymous
Dear Salty Dog, The Masonry, Stucco and Brick Paint will cover most oil-based paints. If you have a glossy finish, please be sure to scuff sand the surface prior to painting with a fine grit sandpaper. Be sure to test the product on an inconspicuous area first just to confirm that our product will cover the previous coating as it is unclear from your posting what substrate you are applying the paint. Please keep in mind that this product is formulated for Masonry, Stucco and Brick. Thank you for the inquiry!

5-gal. Deep Base Flat Masonry, Stucco and Brick Interior/Exterior Paint is rated 3.7 out of 5 by 7.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from BEHR Stucco & Brick paint Bought a 1957 beach cottage in Hermosa Beach, 8 years ago. With no sanding and no primer,I put the paint straight on the old stucco. I even used it on the underside of the over hang, not one peel is visable. I am only buying new paint because I want to change the color. Thanks! Home Depot, your BEHR paint ROCKS.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Buy Elastomeric This paint required two coats and hairline cracks came right through. Not a good buy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Coverage on Kitchen Walls When we bought our new home, the stucco walls in our kitchen were covered with patches of grease from previous smoke. Even with the "bleeding" that happens with grease, two coats of this white stucco paint did a fabulous job of restoring beauty of these stucco walls.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from pleased Repainted our entire old Spanish style white stucco house with this-went on well, looks really great in the bright flat white and it seems to touch up well where we have had to later do some wall repair work. (Should have purchased in the larger 5 gal. sizes to save money but didn't want to wrestle with the large buckets, so we used many of the 1 gal. size.) Very pleased with the product!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Required two coats, filled in the small cracks in 15 year old stucco. Results are very good. NM Home with 15 year old stucco. Sun makes outside wall temp very hot here and everyday has thermal expansion. So old stucco had spider cracks. Used the heaver (more expensive) rubber behr paint (elastomeric) spelling a guess, to seal larger cracks, then painted entire home in this regular stucco paint with a roller and brush. Needed two coats, but all the cracks disappeared and it looks very nice. Clean up with water was easy and allowed for multiple re-use of brushes and roller. Be careful with the rubber elastomeric paint as too much will be bad for final appearance as it will fill in the stucco to a point that it will be without the sand texture. Still use it, it is great. After 60 gals, I'm tired and happy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing results Yes does take two coats but for $20 can't beat the price! I love the way it made the house look! It looks like a brand new home without the high cost of buying a new one! That's why I am thankful that we are able to do this to our homes! Amazing results!!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Less then one year later - it is peeling We painted the home last summer and there are already places where it is flaking which is very DISAPPOINTING. We spent a lot of time, money and energy and thought Behr had quality products. I will never use Behr exterior paint again.
