Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Greg Understand that this is a BROWN STAIN not a Clear Waterproofing!
Bought this product at the store, the can says TRANSPARENT, NATURAL. It is not transparent, it is a brown wood stain product!
I thought I'd spend an afternoon brushing a 5 gal can of waterproofing on my just cleaned deck. Wrong. This is a wood stain product ... plan on spending several days doing this. Plan on doing several coats. Plan on using tape and a careful brushing for edging. This applies like a paint, it glues to the deck any remaining leaves or debris, it leaves brush marks, it dries unevenly and it leaves brown stain on anything you didn't intend to touch with the brush.
Don't think this is like brushing on Thompson's WaterSeal ... this stuff requires far more careful application and many more hours and be sure you like the color because it is NOT transparent.

We have used Behr Transparent Waterproofing Wood Finish on an 12' x 24' open west-facing deck on our cabin in New Hampshire. The weather conditions are brutal with snow, ice and below-freezing temperatures in the winter, and full hot sun in the summer. We have only needed to treat the deck every three to four years, and it continues to look great. Thanks for making a good product.

We bought this to stain our daughters' playhouse swingset. We used the leftover on my raised garden. Both look fantastic and like new. The next morning after a light sprinkle, the water was beaded over the boards and not soaking in. Fantastic product, never have had an issue with Behr Paints. They will always be my number 1 choice.

I bought five gallon of the transparent waterproofing wood finish stain. It is not even a year old and it looks terrible. It is off part of the decks, I did 3 decks is the reason I purchased so much, That was a mistake. It is not worth the extra money thinking it is better anything would have been better than this

We had a new redwood deck built last spring 2013. We applied Behr Premium Wood Coatings All-in-One Wood Cleaner in accordance with directions on the container. Then, in accordance with directions on the can, we applied BEHR Premium Weatherproofing Wood Finish. We carefully and precisely followed all directions and time frames on these products and we were pleased with the results. We are in California and have been in a drought since the deck was built. Now, it has rained for a few days and the deck looks terrible! It has black streaks and little black dots all over it. They look like mold. We brushed a spot on the deck with a scrub brush and the stain came off - right down to the bare wood. The BEHR Premium Weatherproofing Wood Finish can said this product would last 4 years on a deck. It didn’t even last one year! These are appallingly poor and ineffective products. So, thanks to Behr, we are faced with having to remove it all, clean all it up and start over.

After years of satisfaction with Behr paint and other products, I am terribly disappointed to have to give this review. We put in a new deck 3 years ago. We allowed it to age a full year (as recommended) prior to staining. In the past we had been disappointed with another brand named stain fading and so opted for Behr product when the time came to stain the new deck. We prepped and cleaned as recommended prior to applying the stain. Within one year, our deck is peeling!! Peeling like we painted it, not stained it. This is obviously not a stain product since you can see that it did not "stain" the wood at all. We will now have to completely strip and re-prepare and restain our deck. And, we will not be using Behr products to do it. Since this happened to us, I have spoken to other people that used the Behr staining and weather proofing products and have had the same result. I warn everyone I know NOT to use these products on their deck. I cannot believe that Behr produced this product.
