Dear Fencedawg,
Yes, this Waterproofing Wood Protector can be applied with a sprayer on vertical applications like a fence. Please see below for the Application Instructions:
APPLICATION
Must apply between 40-90˚F. Do not use if rain is expected within 24 hours. The wood surface must be completely dry before application. Intermix multiple containers to ensure color uniformity. DO NOT THIN PRODUCT. Stir product occasionally throughout application. Test product for penetration and color on a small hidden area before proceeding. Use a nylon/polyester bristle brush or pad applicator. Rolling should be limited to rough surfaces only. Use a 3/8” nap roller. A high quality pump sprayer with a variable tip can be used. However, if a pump sprayer is used, work in small sections lightly saturating the surface and backbrush/roll immediately to remove excess and evenly distribute the finish. Airless spray is recommended for experienced applicators only. Use a .015 - .019” tip. Maintain a wet edge when applying. Always backbrush during all application methods. Apply product end to end or to board lengths to prevent lap marks. Over application of finish will lead to surface failure including peeling and cracking. Avoid applying finish too heavily. Coat wood on all sides for optimum performance.

Dear Anonymous,

Thank you for your question.

BEHR® Waterproofing Wood Protector NO. 300 has been discontinued. Another similar product for you to consider is our BEHR® Transparent Waterproofing Wood Finish NO. 400.

Hope this helps, and best of luck on your project!

my new question is can the 300 and 400 be mixed together without any color discoloration?

Answer:
Dear John,
Although both products are the same "Natural" color, there can be slight variations between the two finishes. Therefore, we do not recommend mixing the two products.
Thank you.

Customer Reviews

Rated 4.0 out of 5 by 4 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Stuff We started using this product about 5 years ago. We had an old graying fence and used this on it. It brought out the color again. We re-stained the fence the next year and then only have to re-stain every 2-3 years to maintain the color. Can't speak highly enough about this water proofing protector. June 17, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Terrible Product I applied the product to my deck last summer. Initially I was happy with the results. Over the winter it began to chip away and is now half gone. The color of the product does not penetrate the wood. It sits on top like a coat of plastic and then chips off in a few months. My deck looks horrible and the only fix is to sand off the remaining "plastic". August 27, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Product Worked great on our cedar fencing. Really liked the natural look & it lasts pretty good; although, not quite 2 years. That could have a lot to do with Texas summers running 100-plus degrees. January 21, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Ms I use this on many projects. I only use Behr products. September 29, 2014
