The last time I painted my ceiling using a different brand of paint, I primed it and after 3 coats later, I still saw blemishes. I tried this Behr Matte finish and one coat, no priming, and my ceiling looks pretty darn good. I like the color and its' dull like finish so the lighting doesn't reflect off the ceiling. I'll paint my walls with a slightly darker version of this color now. The paint applied well with my roller as well as with my brush. There was no stinky paint fumes and I cleaned up with soap and water. This paint is the answer to this rookie's painting problems of the past. I highly recommend this paint.

Let me preface by saying I am a HUGE Behr Ultra paint fan. We have used it throughout our old home, which is now a rental, as well as our current home. I decided to try the Marquee since we were going from a very dark mossy green, to a light and airy grey in our kitchen. Due to the one-coat coverage I was willing to fork over the extra money as this project was in our kitchen and there are so many things to go around, I didn't want to have to go back again. I found the Marquee paint way too thick and very difficult to work with. By the time I would do trim work in one area and come back with a roller, the paint would be sticky and cause the hand painted trimming areas of paint to come off and cause areas of poor coverage (this is all in a span of 5-10 minutes). I found it bled through all of my tape (and I usually never have that problem). There also ends up being speckled spots in a lot of places; it seems like when the paint dries, it pulls away from itself in certain spots. Very frustrating. I also found a lot of difficulty in my corner points (exterior corners, not interiors). When I would try to do a straight line to finish off the paint as the other wall meeting it was a different color, I found it very hard to work with; most likely due to its viscosity. Lastly, I had a major issue with the paint coming off when I removed the tape between my sink and window (see picture). I don't know if the paint just dried too fast, because I will do one wall and then remove the tape (always my normal practice). I am by no means a newbie at painting. I just completed painting our office a couple of weeks prior (with Behr Ultra). Overall I will stick with Behr Ultra... I find the same coverage without all of these issues. For being a Behr product I'm very disappointed.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by DIYer4life Covers great with one coat
Our daughter just went off to college so we thought we would surprise her and remodel her bedroom. This paint went beautifully over the previous blue paint that she wanted when she was little. One coat really did the job. I ran out right at the end and had to buy another but it was worth it. I will definitely buy this brand again for our next remodeling project.

This is the first time I painted the house in 16 years. The color it came with was a flat white and easily got dirty. The Almond Butter color was an excellent choice for our home and the Marquee paint in Satin really stands out. I did not want to struggle painting a big house and that is why I chose this one in particular because it advertises ONE coat application. For the most part yes it took only one coat but there were times I had to go over it a few times with the roller. Of course my wall has some texture and others could have a different experience. I am happy overall and do recommend this paint.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by RCSA Two coats are better than one
The end result was very nice but it took two coats to achieve. I must admit the room used to be a dark brown so one coat would likely not have done it with any paint.

Tried the Behr Marquee 2 years ago to paint a recently acquired Condo and had it rented before closing. Thought we would try this paint, as in a hurry to have ready for the tenants.
Fabulous, LR, Kitchen, 2 bathrooms & 2 bedrooms done in a weekend and ALL covered in 1 coat. Could not believe. Just used again in another condo, covered in 1 coat a "Horrible" dark brown, almost black, 1 coat coverage with a light grey..... could not believe !!!!!!!!!!!!!! Finished a 3 bd, 2 ba, Lr, Great room. Dr. & kitchen in a weekend, 1 COAT !!!!! 3 gallons of paint.
Cannot believe all of the horrible reviews, try again !

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by KatG I really didn't believe the TV Commercials but this paint is AWESOME!.
I was a big Sherwin Williams fan up until now. I had seen the TV commercials for Behr where the guy painlessly transforms a dark grey room to light with 1 coat and thought...yeah right, but figured I would try it out! I was so sick of my dark rust colored walls and needed a change and was prepared to apply a couple of coats if necessary.
Well to my amazement, all it took was ONE coat and the results are fantastic. No touch-up or anything. I used a sheepskin roller and maybe this made a difference but I found it was so easy to work with and it went a long way as 1.5 gallons covered a large family room and kitchen. It dries fast but I had no problem with the pre-trimmed areas (ceiling, around windows doors etc.) matching with the rolled on paint. I think it does need constant stirring when you are refilling your trays or containers because it's a thicker paint and you may notice some separation, but it's not a big deal. Home Depot always includes a couple of good stirrer sticks.
From now on, this is my go-to paint and I will highly recommend it to everybody! Just LOVE it!
PS: Why buy a cheaper paint that you might have to buy double the amount because you have to apply 2 coats? This really works!

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by JoieinSD Very poor paint choice, covers dark colors though
This paint does go on in "one coat", but it chips and scratches terribly. I am really unhappy with it. I spent a few hundred dollars doing a front entry, living/dining room and the walls just scuff up so badly. It's only been just under a year since I painted.
Luckily I didn't get around to doing the rest of the house, I will use another paint when I finally get to that. I would not buy this paint again, I would not recommend it at all. At the time they didn't have a satin in this formula, I had to go with the matte and it's awful.
