what type of paint do I use in the bathroom where there is moisture?

We want to paint our kitchen cabinets (vineer plywood) to another color. Will this work?

Asked by: isha
I would not. there are other products better suited for cabinet painting. The number one requirement is a hard coating (paint surface) for durability. Try using the new hybrid water based alkyd paints. Also, you want a paint that dries slowly. This paint dries FAST and is challenging to apply. It tacks up immediately causing your brush to drag resulting in brush marks. Spray it on - if you must - but that requires experience....

What recourse do you have if you don't get one-coat coverage?

I am covering yellow with yellow, and am having to go back over the surface several times to get decent coverage. Big waste of very expensive paint! First time I tried the Marquee, and I'm very disappointed. I have used the regular Behr paint under similar circumstances before and had better results.
Asked by: RAS
You can buy another gallon. The opacity of this paint is superior to anything else I have tried. You may very well be able to get by with one coat. However, if you don't achieve that, then buy more paint. You'll buy less of this to achieve the result you want than you will of most other paints.

Will this paint cover wood paneling in one coat?

Asked by: Bet
I am a consumer of this product.. and I would say yes.. if you prep correctly. That means the paneling is clean and not high gloss. I would wipe the paneling down with rubbing alcohol to make sure there is no film or dirt that would block a good adhesion.

We purchased Behr Marquee paints for several rooms in our house, and overall the product was OK at best. First, the little star on the can after the one coat guarantee that says that only some colors are covered by the guarantee is pretty misleading. Make sure you ask at the paint desk for the book of actual one coat colors. We hired a painter to do the painting after taking a look at all the work that we wanted done, and there were some coverage issues with some of the actually guaranteed colors, once we found out what they were, as you can see from the attached picture. Home Depot pointed me at Behr for the guarantee and I reached out to them. Three weeks later I still have not heard back from them about my complaints. I would suggest going with a company that actually stands behind their product, which Behr doesn't seem to do.

I have painted a lot in my time, and I have used many different paints/brands (including other Behr products); they all had their pros/cons and overall I had been happy with Behr paint. With that said, I am extremely disappointed and I doubt I will use Behr paints again, or a least not the Marquee. For the price point and marketing hype, I expected much more. The job took 3-4 coats and twice as long; it should have only taken 2 coats; I wasted valuable time and money, which I should have not had to lose. I sincerely hope the product will hold up to the tests of time and routine maintenance; however, based on the early issues, I am very skeptical.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Disappointed I selected the Marquee paint based on internet reviews especially the claim of one coat coverage. While the room I was repainting was several shades lighter than the color we chose, the only one coat coverage I got was the drips on my paint clothes and on the soles of my sandals when I stepped on a drip on the drop cloth. The paint spreads smoothly and appears to cover, until it dries. Then you discover that the old color shows through. I paid extra for the paint, based on claims on the internet of one coat coverage. I could have gotten the same result from an cheaper brand. Good paint, but I expected more. I was not impressed!

This is your warning to not buy this paint unless you freehand paint. I have used painter tape for years with Behr Premium paint. I thought the Marquee paint might be better so I purchased a 5 gallon bucket to re paint some of the rooms in my home. This Marquee paint is more expensive and took more than one coat, which did not bother me much, because I am used to putting two coats of paint on a wall when repainting. However, the worst part was how the paint peeled off when removing the tape. Please do not make the same mistake as me and use this paint with painter tape. Days of painting will be for nothing, because you will have to go back and paint your edges by hand. Bad product.

This is the worst paint I have ever used. I had problems with 1. lapping, 2. picture framing, 3. poor hiding, 4. poor sheen uniformity, 5. roller marks, 6. foaming, and 7. sagging. I went for the hight cost thinking this is a higher quality paint. It is not. Moreover, asking the staff at Home Depot Thomas Road Phoenix to do something to correct the situation resulted in an answer of: we (Home Depot) will do nothing to help customers with Behr products. For verification of this fact contact Trisha Caforio (602) 225-0980 3609 E. Thomas Road Phoenix Arizona 85018 asm_0477@homedepot.com

I just painted my bathroom ceiling and it made such a sticky mess I don't even know how to repair the damage. I have always loved Behr paint and had recently painted the ceiling a darker color and decided I didn't like it. So I decided to try the Marquee paint due to its one coat coverage. What a huge mistake. If you are going to use this paint you had better have a professional do it. I bet even the professionals would tell you to stay away from this paint. If you try to go back over a spot you missed even if it is within 10 seconds you will have a big glob of stickiness that is unrepairable!

You better be extremely fast AND efficient with your painting because it is not forgiving. If you try to go over an area even minutes after you apply the paint, it smudges up the whole works. So you have to wait until it's completely dry to put on another coat. No, it doesn't cover in one coat (and we primed it also) and it spread like putty. Don't waste your money and time. It's not efficient and it's slow!

The first time was on a bed frame. That took 2 coats but I did not prime and it was almost bare wood in some areas. The bed came out great! The second was on the wall. I didn't have the time luxury of more than one coat so I went with this. Covered beautifully! It is thick but if I poured small quantities and stirred often it went on smooth. No platter! For me it was worth the money.
