Painting Garage

Which is better to paint the inside of a garage ( sheetrock walls ), interior or exterior paint? Although semi-gloss will show more imperfections, I assume that this would also be better due to is durability in this environment. Is this correct?
Asked by: JoeM
Hello JoeM, Thanks for your question. I would go with a satin or a semi-gloss paint on the garage walls if it will be subjected to regular foot traffic or activity, because yes, those higher sheens do provide better durability. We would recommend using an interior paint if the garage will be heated/cooled/insulated so that it's like another room in the house. If, on the other hand, the garage will be subjected to extremes of heat or cold from the environment outside, then an exterior paint would be better. Well wishes for your project! -Joshua

1 gal. #MQ3-28 Rock Crystal Semi-Gloss Enamel Exterior Paint is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 57.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Rock Crystal Not Really Grey.... I was pleased with the paint in general, the Marquee is fabulous, it would've gone on in one coat had the person helping us paint done a better job. We only had to touch up the walls he painted. My biggest complaint was the color. We purchased "Rock Crystal" which is classified as a grey. The sample card looked grey, however once we got it up on the walls it was more of a purple. The fault is on me for not buying a sample size to test, but just wanted to warn others. This not grey, it is a light purple with some grey in it.

This paint does not match the online image or the paint sample in the store. I was litigious in choosing it, looking at the sample in several lighting types. Unfortunately, when I did a sample on the wall, it dried pink. Great part is, it is non-returnable. I have to now spend the money to get an actual grey paint. The paint coats really well, dried fast, doesn't match color samples.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Paint Ever! Painted my new home exterior, formerly, as the neighbors said, electric turquoise, a light sage green. Really was one coat coverage, thick & didn't drip, well worth the price, used half the paint, half the time, I would normally have needed. . [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

I decided to paint a room that had lime green, canary yellow, hot pink and darker pink vertical stripes. I was really dreading the re paint project expecting multiple primer coats and the potential for bleed thru with these colors. The gentleman at HD suggested this paint and said it would cover almost anything in one coat. By gosh he was right. I completed the project in a few hours, let it dry and no signs of the previous colors. The paint went on very easy and dried to a nice eggshell finish. So far so good. Definitely a winner.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome paint I've done a lot of research on this paint and thought I bought the perfect paint for my front door, boy was I wrong. I had a professional painter come and paint my door, this paint just didn't do it, I had to go and purchase a higher quality paint and spent even more money, the painter had to sand the door again and do the work all over again. From what I read it seemed to be an awesome paint it just didn't work for me. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Vibrant color stays polished We bought this paint for our exterior door and it was best decision we made when it comes to paint. We live in New England brutal weather and the paint is known to chip because of snow, rain, sun and wind. The paint color doesn't fade, it stays new and polished although we painted the door 3 years ago. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Terrific paint I painted the exterior with this paint over a year ago and it still looks fresh and clean. Any dirt on the siding cleans up very easily. It was ten years between painting but still covered well with one coat. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Behr Maquee Paint After My wife waisted her time painting out some rooms, up to 5 times in a house we recently bought, we were leary of any new product. Trying to cover green interior was a nightmare. So the last job and the worst, was painting, the exterior, red, wood skirting and yellow, trim siding which is aluminum. I would guess it was painted on original construction, 32 years ago. We bleach washed the entire house which took off all the loose oxide. Yellow and especially red are very hard to cover. Red is really easy to bleed through. Home Depot had only Marquee paint in for a few days and had no feed back yet. We were hoping anything we read on Behr Marquee was as stated and not a pile of hype and no substance. Being an old school guy, oil base paint was hard to beat. Boy was I wrong. We used a 2000 psi Airless sprayer with 6ft long metal mask. In 5hrs we painted a 65ft long x 14ft building lower trim in light Grey and lower skirt Dark Grey. Some part had to be touched with a brush and a roller with equal ease. This is absolutly the best paint ever. It goes on smooth as silk, dries quickly, so quick if you over spray and try and wipe it immediatly it's already stuck. It covered anything it was applied to, even in places we didn't clean as good as it should have been. I can't speak to how long it will last, but I have every confidence in this product. One good coat of Behr Marquee would have done the job. You get what you pay for? Well let's see. The other paint was 30% less but took 3-4 times more product plus the same in labor. What was I thinking? We also applied it to the front wood steps which seems to hold up fine. Kudos to Behr.
