Which is better to paint the inside of a garage ( sheetrock walls ), interior or exterior paint? Although semi-gloss will show more imperfections, I assume that this would also be better due to is durability in this environment. Is this correct?

We would recommend using an interior paint if the garage will be heated/cooled/insulated so that it's like another room in the house. If, on the other hand, the garage will be subjected to extremes of heat or cold from the environment outside, then an exterior paint would be better. Well wishes for your project!

Can Marquee Semi-Gloss Exterior Enamel be used on aluminum gutters?

This question is from 1-gal. #PPU18-6 Ultra Pure White Semi-Gloss Enamel Exterior Paint
Asked by
Greater St. Louis, MO

I bought some ultra-white 5450 to paint my exterior trim and eaves. Will return later to get some Marquee medium base, tinted for shutters. Now wondering about use on gutters and downspouts. These have an old semi-gloss factory finish, a pale almond tint, tightly adherent but the wrong color.

Gutters were pressure washed, will be scuffed with 100-grit sandpaper and wiped off with a solvent rag before brush painting. Should I look for a different product for finish coat, or is Marquee recommended for this service?

Some sources say not to use certain acrylics due to eventual bubbling and separation from the substrate. Possibly due to a reaction between aluminum and a quaternary ammonium preservative in the formula?

Not sure, but I thought I would specifically check if aluminum gutters can be properly repainted with this product. Or would another Behr product be better?

Hello LarryW,
Thank you for your interest in our products. Our Marquee is actually a great paint to use for the aluminum gutters. Your form of preparation is just the way we’d recommend preparing the surface before painting.
Best wishes,
Kevin

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Rock Crystal Not Really Grey.... I was pleased with the paint in general, the Marquee is fabulous, it would've gone on in one coat had the person helping us paint done a better job. We only had to touch up the walls he painted. My biggest complaint was the color. We purchased "Rock Crystal" which is classified as a grey. The sample card looked grey, however once we got it up on the walls it was more of a purple. The fault is on me for not buying a sample size to test, but just wanted to warn others. This not grey, it is a light purple with some grey in it. September 27, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by What a horrible product. I thought by spending $46 for a gallon of exterior paint, I would get a good product. Problems- 1. The viscosity is so low that it's impossible to prevent sags and drips from an vertical surface. 2. The hiding power is atrociously low. Looks like I will have to put 2 coats on. Apparently Behr decided to have a very low level of titanium dioxide in this product which gives any paint it opaqueness or hiding power. Don't buy this product. Go to Sherwin Williams! Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by great product truly bright white, great coverage with one coat. Very happy with purchase. I purchased based on reviews and ratings, had the painting done by a professional October 11, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent Coverage This paint covers in one coat and is primer and paint in one. No heavy odor and is soap and water clean up. The price is a bit high but in the long run a good deal. October 26, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Used this paint last year to paint my whole house exterior and just used (a different color) it to paint a bench I built. Covers in one coat, costs more but so far I think that it is worth it. October 25, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by One Coat Misnomer For the high cost of this product, plus the claim of one coat primer and top coat all in one, this was a disappointment. I prepared the surfaces with sanding and a damp wipe, even though the old paint was still solid and not cracking/peeling. We were painting to change the color from a light tan to white on all our window trim. It took two coats to cover the window trim. The first coat did not completely cover even though I used the recommended brush which I purchased when I bought the paint. I was very disappointed. September 27, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Actually can be less expensive I wanted to avoid a second coat so I tried Marquee, I thought the extra cost was worth it for my time. It covered the room beautifully with a single coat. I was able to cover the room with a single gallon, if I had used a 2 coat paint it actually would have cost more. July 20, 2016
