Hello NewJack,
Thanks for your question. Right, this paint is only meant for exterior surfaces like siding or the outside of doors. Instead, consider our Marquee Interior Satin paint.
Well wishes for your project!

I was hoping to rent a paint sprayer to apply this paint on my home's exterior and just wanted to know if it would work well with a good exterior paint sprayer. Thanks in advance if anyone knows.

Hi SideShowBob, Thank you for your question! On semi-smooth surfaces, use a high quality
3/8-1/2" nap roller cover, nylon/polyester brush or an airless sprayer (.015 -.021" spray tip, 60 mesh filter). On rough surfaces, use a high quality 3/4-1" nap roller cover. Do not thin if using a roller or brush; however, if using a sprayer and thinning is required, thin with water at a rate of no more than

Answer:
Hi Sam,
Yes, you may use Behr Marquee over an existing finish, just make use the current finish is in good shape, not pealing and is clean and dry. You also may want to lightly sand the wood to remove any sheen to assure good adhesion of the new paint.

Customer Reviews

Rated 4.7 out of 5 by 137 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Paint with advanced technology. This paint has several advantages that paints did not have before. I used to do the primer before, and wait for it to dry for a day or two to do the real paint job. This paint also includes the primer, so that step can be eliminated, which means it saves time and money. I just washed off of the cement board siding the day before painting with a garden hose. The weather was good and wind was calm. I did paint my back side of the house which is about 360 square feet (9’x40’) using a paint sprayer and a gallon of paint. It looks really great. I did a testing on the painted surface next day, after the paint was dry, to see if the claims of the manufacture were correct. I did throw some dirty water and mud on the painted surface. Next day, I sprayed off the dirt with a garden hose, and it was amazing; the dirt and mud came off clean, and the surface looked like I just painted it! It is really worth the money for this new technology paint, which is; dirt, stain, water, mildew and fade resistant. The best advantage of the paint that I like was the water resisting technology, which avoids the growth of mildew. I hope the pearl like appearance of the painted surface will stay as it is now, for long time to come. September 26, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Looks Beautiful On My House! I hired painters for the first time and asked them to use Behr Marquee paints that I chose for the exterior of my house. They used Taupe Tease for the main color and I absolutely love it! June 21, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Got to LOVE this Paint I have an outside storage building that was showing a lot of wear due to the extreme weather over the years and I decided to give it a fresh coat of paint. I researched the different options for outdoor paint products and found BERH MARQUEE Products that are stain-blocking with a primer included, fade resistant and also resists dirt. My storage shed is located near a busy road with lots of traffic and has a lot of wear. I have to say that I am very pleased with the results. I would highly recommend the BERH MARQUEE Products. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Disappointing: stick w/Behr Ultra I've used Marquee interior paints extensively and generally been pleased with the results. I had high exectations of the exterior version, particularly given its price and positioning as Behr's premium paint. I knew there was no claim of one-coat coverage (which frankly I've seldom gotten from their interior paints). What I didn't expect at all was needing at LEAST three coats on top of a high-quality primer coat. Initially I used a top-of-the-line brush, then tried 1/2" and longer nap rollers. Nothing helped. I switched to a primer intended for peeling paint (w/especially good adhesion properties). Useless. So were four coats of straight Marquee over scraped wood siding/trim. I finally gave up and switched back to the exterior Behr, which did a fine job and put the Marquee to shame. Possibly i got a defective batch of Marquee, but their quality control is ordinarily excellent. I don't understand how Home Depot could promote such a substandard product, let alone charge this much for it. On the basis of my experience, I strongly recommend avoiding exterior Marquee. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Bon! Behr Marquee goes on smooth and is easy to roll. Very good coverage. July 9, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Best Paint EVER This is the best paint for every job. We painted out bedroom with the Marquee and then painted out kitchen. It covers the best ever, one coat, even over darker paint. It applies easily and looks great. The color is true to the sample. June 22, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great exterior paint We used the Behr Marquee exterior paint on our rough sawn cedar house that had not been painted in a very long time. The coverage was excellent even on dry rough wood. The surface after two coats was amazing and many neighbors have complemented our house. Our painter, who only used this paint because we requested it, said he is now a firm believer and will switch from the brand he has used for years. June 26, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Best paint at reasonable prices I love Behr paint. It goes on smooth and lasts forever. Sometimes I am not the best at keeping up with painting projects but Behr affords me the opportunity to be a little lazy as it ladts and still looks beautiful June 22, 2016
