Hi Gomer!
Thanks for your question. When using Marquee, the brushes can be cleaned with a little soapy water; no need for solvent. Hope this helps! Best, Jeanette P.

Answer:
Hi steve,
Yes, our Marquee Exterior Satin Enamel can be used on aluminum siding. We recommend scuff sanding the surface and cleaning it before painting to promote the best adhesion. Your first coat can also be used as your primer coat to help lock in any stains on the surface. Any additional coats will build up color and uniformity. Good luck! - Sara

The house we are painting is very old and has been painted with lead based paint on the exterior.
We are thinking to pressure was and brush off the loose particles of paint and wonder if covering with the Behr lead cast satin enamel exterior paint will cover the existing threat of lead base paint.
Please advise

Answer:
Hi 1DeterminedDonna,
Thanks for writing in! Although Marquee Paint can be applied over the lead based paint, it will not seal it. "Lead Cast" is the name of a Marquee color. Furthermore, it's highly recommended to wear a NIOSH-approved respirator to control lead exposure while sanding, scraping or removing lead based paint. 5-gal. #N510-3 Stargazer Satin Enamel Exterior Paint is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 145.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from good.....not great I am a professional painter. Marquee is definitely good paint but paint and primer is one is a sales gimmick. Almost always need two coats unless you are painting over previously painted surfaces with the exact same or very similiar color. That's the bottom line.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Expensive Paint That Doesn't Cover All That Well The title sums up my review pretty well. The HD paint clerk said the Behr Marquis paint should cover in one coat. One coat wasn't even close to being sufficient to cover light tan paint and spots of white primer with light yellow paint that was brushed on. In many cases it took three coats to cover. That doesn't make this bad paint....only time well tell how well it holds up. Considering what I was told about the coverage, and that it's their top line paint at nearly $50 gallon, I guess I expected more. Sherwin Williams and Benjamin Moore paints will be on my radar next time.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from It's good paint, easy to apply, except... I've used Behr paint for 20 years on our present home. On all materials except wood windows, Behr performs very well. But on our wood frame windows, Behr paint, including Marquee, lasts about 2 Summer seasons where the Colorado sun hits it as it peels and cracks. Behr paint company replaced the last gallon and I'm in the process of repainting my windows frames. I'll let you know in 3 years!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Exterior Paint I've Ever Used I have used the Exterior Marquee since it came out, and It's hands down the best paint i've ever used on the outside of a home. The best part is the dirt an dust resistant finish. I told Ed (my Maui Behr rep) about how much I loved it, and a few weeks later, I was called for an over the phone interview for an article in the Home Depot Contractor's Magazine which is circulated on the East Coast. they published my pictures of my project and everything. I am a very happy contractor!! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 2 out of 5 by from One Coat Misnomer For the high cost of this product, plus the claim of one coat primer and top coat all in one, this was a disappointment. I prepared the surfaces with sanding and a damp wipe, even though the old paint was still solid and not cracking/peeling. We were painting to change the color from a light tan to white on all our window trim. It took two coats to cover the window trim. The first coat did not completely cover even though I used the recommended brush which I purchased when I bought the paint. I was very disappointed.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good but not great This is Behr's best exterior latex paint, which I bought to paint a fiberglass exterior entry door to the garage. The door was clean and dry. The brush I used was a (very good quality) Purdy 2" fine bristle brush for just this kind of paint. The temp was in the mid 80's, and painted not in direct sun. The door was white, and the paint is shell white, so an easy to cover color. Paint went on smooth and creamy, but showed brush marks. I thought it would flow better, and lose the fine bristle marks, but they remained. Next day, I lightly sanded, wiped and repainted the door, and the results are a good paint job that still shows the bristle marks when dry. It looks fine from a distance, and should be easy to keep clean. But if you want a perfectly smooth finish, this is not the paint.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great paint! The most expensive and highest rated paint Home Depot carriers in the Behr line. Gauuranteed to cover in one coat. No kidding as thick and as much latex is in this mixture. You could waterproof a boat hull with it made of screen. Dries fast and covers really well. Only reason I gave it 4/5 on value is the expense. But compared to all other brands, their top line that was equal to this, they were all more expensive. Some by 30%. If painting exteriors, use this stuff.

When it comes to paint, ALWAYS buy the best stuff, NEVER go cheap on paint! Its 10 times more expensive to try and remove crummy paint and re-paint, if you put a value on your time and suffering. Take the cost of the paint, and divide it by the cost of the house, does it make sense to be Mr. Cheapskate? NO! Just buy the expensive stuff and you won't regret it!
