what type of paint do I use in the bathroom where there is moisture?

We want to paint our kitchen cabinets (vineer plywood) to another color. Will this work?

Asked by: isha
I would not. there are other products better suited for cabinet painting. The number one requirement is a hard coating (paint surface) for durability. Try using the new hybrid water based alkyd paints. Also, you want a paint that dries slowly. This paint dries FAST and is challenging to apply. It tacks up immediately causing your brush to drag resulting in brush marks. Spray it on - if you must - but that requires experience....

What recourse do you have if you don't get one-coat coverage?

I am covering yellow with yellow, and am having to go back over the surface several times to get decent coverage. Big waste of very expensive paint! First time I tried the Marquee, and I'm very disappointed. I have used the regular Behr paint under similar circumstances before and had better results.
Asked by: RAS
You can buy another gallon. The opacity of this paint is superior to anything else I have tried. You may very well be able to get by with one coat. However, if you don't achieve that, then buy more paint. You'll buy less of this to achieve the result you want than you will of most other paints.

I usually buy Sherwin-Williams paint, but I decided to try Marquee because it was supposed to cover in one coat. I am very impressed with this paint. It covered in one coat and the paint was really easy rolling. I used a power roller and it was excellent. I will buy this paint again because it did the best job of any paint I have used. I recommend this paint if you want to get the job done quickly and want great results.

I am typically a BEHR paint supported and was going to try the Sherwin Williams brand but thought that would be a bad idea. I decided to buy the BEHR Marquee and BOY was I let down. This is not a one coat coverage paint. I will be sending BEHR the complaint form for the paint purchase. I am on a fixed budget and to spend nearly 50 bucks for one gallon of paint is ridiculous. Just like many of the other reviews stated THIS IS NOT A ONE COVER PAINT. I was sold because of the home depots paint specialist recommendation. What a joke! I am so annoyed and will send a pic/video later. Do not spend the money!!!

I live in a manufactured home and the walls have this horrible "paper" finish to them . Paint would never stick to the walls. Then I found Behr Marquee. This is the only interior paint I will buy from now on. It went on so smoothly and covered completely in only one coat! I chose a pale gray to cover ugly old tannish walls and the fact that one coat, half a gallon of Behr Marquee, painted my entire family room is extraordinary! I'm now going to paint the rest of the house with this fantastic product. I highly recommend it. My room looks fabulous now!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Lavender hallway We had a lavender hallway that we repainted a custom color yellow. The paint went on like a dream. It covered the purple in one coat. We also did our living room a couple of months ago. We tried to use another paint but it required a primer but it went on totally uneven. We did the best we could with it but it was just not working out. Then we got Marquee and it covered perfectly in one coat - no primer needed, [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

And be VERY careful when applying with a brush. I attempted to get a single coat coverage for the trim. When I applied with a brush, it drips and sags. If you go back about 10 minutes later, the drips will have "skinned", and you'll pull the top layer of paint up in areas. In the end, it's patchy; looks almost like a very bad drywall smoothing job. The solution is twofold: 1) do NOT brush horizontally - the brush strokes will sag because of the uneven thickness. 2) Assume 2-coat coverage, so apply one thin trim coat, let dry overnight, then apply the second coat of trim. This is the first time in 45 years of painting I had this problem. Have used other premium brands and have not had this issue. And of course, it had to happen when trimming at the wall/ceiling, so up and down the ladders twice.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Would give negative stars, if possible I'm a contractor with 20 years experience and this is the worst paint I've ever seen. It has the consistency of elementary school glue, super-thick. After applying it on the wall, it begins to dry instantaneously, into a thick latex film. It is impossible to cut-in and feather, as once it begins drying (2 seconds after application) subsequent brush strokes and roller passes begin clumping up and peeling it right off the wall. I have yet to peel the edge tape off, but am certain it's going to pull the paint off with it. There is not a chance that there will be any durability to this stuff either. Way, way, way to thick, dries too fast and is going to take mpre time/effort than priming and painting separately would have. Anyone who recommends this stuff clearly has no experience painting, nor a clue as to what they're doing. Do not waste your money!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Disappointed I selected the Marquee paint based on internet reviews especially the claim of one coat coverage. While the room I was repainting was several shades lighter than the color we chose, the only one coat coverage I got was the drips on my paint clothes and on the soles of my sandals when I stepped on a drip on the drop cloth. The paint spreads smoothly and appears to cover, until it dries. Then you discover that the old color shows through. I paid extra for the paint, based on claims on the internet of one coat coverage. I could have gotten the same result from an cheaper brand. Good paint, but I expected more. I was not impressed!
