Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by HHP WORST PAINT EVER!! Don't waste your time & money.
1- Extremely impossible to do touch-ups with.
2- Leaves horrible roller/streak marks on EVERY wall!
3- Total waste of money and time!
We are professional painters and own our painting company; we have used Behr premium paint a few times and have liked working with it. We had a 2500 sq ft house to paint, so we decided to give the Behr Marquee paint a try, since it was one of the best quality paints the HD rep said, what a huge mistake!!!
To start off we bought 13 gallons total of Marquee paint, in 4 different colors. (3 bedrooms, painted a different color each, and a gray color used in all the main areas of the house). Walls had a very light orange peel texture.
We worked on one wall at a time, with one painter doing the ceiling cutting with a brush and around the trim, doors that were taped off, and another painter rolling the walls behind him. There were streaks marks in every single wall that we rolled; we tried doing a 2nd and even a 3rd coat, on some walls, to no avail, the roller marks were still everywhere! No, the roller wasn’t dry, it had enough paint! Brand new 9” roller with 3/8” nap was used. We tried 3 different rollers and nothing made those horrible streak marks go away, it was impossible not to notice them!
As anyone knows it is very hard to roll wall after wall without having to do a few touch ups, well the Behr Marquee CANNOT be touched up at all! After the paint had dried we tried to do a few touch ups and that looked even worse than before! You can clearly see the few areas were we tried to fix what was needed, touch ups looked a different sheen with lots and standing 10 ft away you can spot the touch ups that were done.
So, what did we have to do to fix the many issues we had with this paint?
1- We had to go back and repaint a few of the rooms where we had used "Behr Marquee" with Sherwin Williams paint, because the streak marks and touched up spots were awful!
2- We spent twice as much money because of the paint we had to purchase to repaint.
3- Time is money! We spent about 3 extra days in that house because of the issues with having to repaint not just one room but a living room, dining room, kitchen, master bedroom, master bathroom, 2 bedrooms and a hallway. (Almost the entire house! The other rooms we just used Sherwin Williams paint from the start, didn’t even bother with the Marquee)
4- We had 4 gallons of Behr Marquee that we didn’t use because we started noticing the issues before we had used them, now they are wasted money. I don’t even want to give away the paint because I know what a hard time people will have with it.
Needless to say, we are very, very disappointed in your paint! We expected Behr Marquee to be of much better quality then what we got (we paid $40+ per gallon for it). We WILL NOT use this paint ever again and will make sure that all our painter colleagues and friends know about the bad quality of Behr Marquee so they don’t make the same mistake we made.
