Customer Questions & Answers

Will behr marquee cover walls that have brush strokes? Or must I sand first?

Asked by: Cindy
This junk will cause brush and roller marks. This is poor quality paint.

What's so special about this paint (behr marquee).

Asked by: keril
Nothing really. Its supposed to cover in one coat and provide extra stain protection compared to the other Behr lines of paint. In reality, it doesnt cover better at all, not even a little bit in my experience.

8 oz. #MQ3-9 Loft Light Interior/Exterior Paint Sample is rated 2.7 out of 5 by 28.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not better than regular Behr paint at all! I bought this in a cream tone to cover some ugly orange-ish color in my office. I also bought a can of English Channel blue in the regular behr. They both required 2-3 coats of paint, but the Marquee costed way more, and did nothing special. The blue actually covered a bit better, so going forward I will just get the cheaper Behr paint since the expensive stuff does nothing special.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Will never go back I recently started painting my white living room with a blue glidden paint and stopped halfway through because the blue was way too dark. I hated the idea of having to prime the entire room all over again before trying a different color, so I tried out the 1 coat guarantee behr paint. It was absolutely amazing! The line that I was sure would show up between the white and blue paint was completely covered up by this paint and it looks absolutely fantastic. I will always use this product going forward. I figure t is not actually more expensive than other paints because it really does only take 1 coat to get the job done perfectly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Recovered skeptic The one-coat guarantee from the woman at the paint counter at Home Depot convinced me to give this a shot. When I came home and looked up these reviews, I had my doubts. But not anymore. We were converting our large master bedroom from dark brown to light green. After all the proper prep - cleaning, sanding and final wipe down of all walls - I went to work with the paint and was surprised at how easily it covered. Not only did it cover, but there's a nice depth to the paint. A couple trouble areas that I was worried about - a 12 x 14 foot wall with no doors or windows, and narrow places that required all brush work - all look fantastic. An area that needed patching showed no difference in color or sheen. No need for primer. The stuff is pretty expensive, but it probably worked out the same with only needing one coat. I'm not sure what happened to all the people here giving bad reviews. Technique may play a part. I was a professional painter for six years, putting myself through college, and have done all my own painting jobs around the house since then. So I know to use the proper tools and proper brush and roller technique. But this paint did not require using anything other than normal painting practices.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not very impressed With all the advertising and guarantees I wanted to give this a try. Watching paint dry is never fun but since this paint is suppose to look good after one coat I thought it would also save me time and trouble moving furniture around. This was not the case at all, after painting over the old light blue paint it was still bleeding through a very noticeable amount. Ended up wasting my day repainting the room and now I have to buy more paint for the closet I didnt get to paint. This paint isnt exactly cheap so thats another negative. The only positive thing I can say about it is that at least it looks good after painting it twice.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Incredible Paint I purchased this paint for my son's bedroom. His walls were bright blue and I dreaded the thought of primer and two coats of paint. I purchased this paint knowing there was a guarantee if it did not work because it is almost twice the cost of the standard Behr paint. I was so impressed with the coverage and the appearance. I purchased the light beige color and it actually covered the bright blue in only one coat. I am very pleased with this paint and I plan to use this for my dining room in the future, which is burgundy.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from More work than advertised, but looks nice I will recommend only because of how gorgeous the color is. I was told this paint was GAURANTEED to cover on one coat no matter what you paint over......not exactly. I thought the extra cost would even out for not having to buy more paint for two coats. I have very textured white walls. Used Coastal Jetty (dark turquoise) over the white walls and did not go on as easily as promised. Will need to buy more to touch up the white uneven spots on the walls. I suppose it still covered better than the alternative, but a little over priced. Don’t advertise one coat ........I do absolutely LOVE the color however! !

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Decent Coverage, Color Inconsistency When using a roller, the coverage was great, and was almost truly one coat. I just had fix a few spots. HOWEVER, prior to using the roller, I had cut in around the ceiling, base trim, two doors, two windows, and a built-in unit. This required two coats. The odd part was that the locations that were brushed were several shades darker than where I rolled it. At first I thought it was due to the second coat, but I did some experimenting and found it was brushing vs. rolling that was causing color inconsistency. I ended up getting a mini-roller and going back over all the spots that had been brushed, trying to get as close to the trim as possible. This worked, but I have no idea why this would happen. I wasted a lot of paint fixing this, therefore it was not worth the extra cost. Not to mention wasting my time, as it ended up taking longer than using regular paint, due to all the extra attention I had to pay to the trim work. I love the color but will not use this paint again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from love this stuff! i started painting with this stuff last night and am soooo happy the associate informed me about it. I am used to using sherman williams emerald line, so before using that i would have thought this price was steep, but after thinking that was the best, this is a steal for me. although i agree, this in no way covers in one coat, it most definately covers in 2 and has the nicest finish and vibrant color i have ever seen in a paint. i'm confused with all the really low ratings, i'm almost thinking to myself did i miss something. it goes on thick, smoothly and what i actually really like is that it dries so quickly.. I'm used to using chalk paints, so i don't know if i'm use to a paint that in the first coat doesn't look that great, but every imperfection is gone in the second. going back tonight to buy a color that is close to a color i picked for a bathroom that after 4 coats still has light spots
