Can this product be used on a painted concrete surface? If so I want to use it around a pool. Will it be slippery?

Asked by: JSG
Hi JSG, Thanks for writing in with your question. You can apply the Solid Concrete Stain, (No. 800) over a previous paint or stain. It can be used around the pool, but can be slippery when wet. Good luck with your project! Regards, Giovanna

This product along with required bonding agent, by Behr also, is the quintessential solution for surface treatment of bare concrete walls, floor, exterior stoops, patios, entranceways, foundation surfaces with multiple and varied choices of decorative colors and applications. Each application of product step takes a minimum of three to four hours drying time for the application of bonding agent and then the application of the stain product with three to fours hours drying time, using brush or roller tools. My experience is that brush and roller clean by water cleansing and drying is best for both the bonding agent and stain product immediately upon project completion.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic Product! As a Contractor I was looking for a way to create that mottled look of an acid-based stain(of which I'm not sure you can find anymore in Ca.)and having used Behr Products for years decided to try the Solid Concrete Stain. Well look at the photos! Product was applied to faded colored concrete with a few calcified and eroded surface areas. Entire area was prepped(power washed, etched, rinsed, neutralized, power washed again)which is key, and allowed to dry. Stain was then applied in several thin coats using 4 colors from the Behr chart. This product is thin, it's not paint so do not apply as such. Product adhered perfectly to surface, dried quickly, and subsequent coats bit nicely into each other. Successful project, product works & looks fantastic. Definitely recommend and will use again!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from concrete stain (BEHR) I have use this stain in the past me and my husband marked out 24x24" grid pattern on our cement foundation in our family room. Then took a saw with a grinding blade and etched out 1/4 inch deep on the grid pattern to give the elusion of large tile. I used three different stains for the color. Then actually used watered down grout to fill in the lines. and then used sealer for top coat. Freinds and family believe it is real tile. We have already etched our entry way and want to stain that to.If planing on trying this I would advise tarping off to other parts of the house the dust gets every where.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beauty on a Budget I bought a house that had cheap, yellowed vinyl floor tile that had to go! I'm on a really tight budget and decided to pull up the tile and paint the floor. I wasn't sure what I would get but anything would be better than what I had. I used the Behr conrete stain in my living room and I am so pleased with it. I'm going to use it in a bedroom next. Since I live in the desert I need something that is easy care and this is. There is such a wide range of colors and the finsih is quite durable. I only needed a gallon to do my living room and it will be the same for the bedroom. It doesn't get better than that!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Covers well! The product is great. It covers well. It had the consistency of thin paint. It is opaque. More like a paint than a stain but it looks nice. My only issue is that the color does not look like it did in the sample it on the website. It is more blue than I wanted. I wanted a true slate gray because my house is green. If you want gray pick a shade with more black tones and less blue. Be careful because the bluer grays will probably be REALLY Blue,

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid color concrete stain This is a great product if applied according to instructions. I first pressure washed my patio that had been in place 31 years. Then I applied the clear primer and after drying thoroughly I applied the concrete stain with a paint roller. It has now been in place for two years, and the only touch up I have had to do this spring is to paint over the high traffic areas that were showing a little thinning. This is used with patio furniture on it, and in the winter I shovel snow off from it so I can feed the doves and quail that come daily to eat the feed that I scatter on it. So the movement of furniture, scraping of snow shovel and bird droppings has very minimal affect on this stain. Would recommend this to anyone!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Renovated a Gross Sunroom Floor We purchased a home with an attached sun-room that we yearned to use for year round entertaining. But for whatever reason the previous homeowners had glued down a disgusting thin green industrial type of carpet throughout the 500 sq feet of the room. Whenever it would rain the water would get wicked into the carpet & then get sucked all the way through. I would have to always steam clean the carpet to get remove the dirt and put off any mildew. In spring and summer it was a dust catcher and full of stains. GROSS. So we decided to rip it out - we're on a tight budget so laying hardwood or tiles was out. This was a great alternative for 1/3 of the price! For less than $200 we were able to use all the Behr products (Epoxy Glue Remover, Primer, Paint and Sealer/Gloss) to come up with a clean modern look we love! We used Chestnut Brown - it really looks like melted dark chocolate. Easy to put down and quick to dry. In 3 days from start to finish we had a transformed room that looks really clean. Easy to clean up (just a wet mop) and keep shiny. As it ages we're getting a nice patina as well. WE LOVE IT. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
