I have a wood porch floor that needs painting . Do I need to prime the floor first before I paint it ?

Asked by: Vetteman
If you are planning to use this Behr paint, don't bother because it will begin to peel within a couple of months whether you prime or not.

Can this be used on the cement in front of a garage?

Asked by: Sissy
Hello, Thank you for your interest in our products. Yes, our Porch and Patio Paint can be used on concrete. However, if it's a driveway, then we would not recommend it. Our paint does not have the benefit of withstanding vehicle traffic. Best regards, Kevin

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great I was redoing the finish the deck. Originally used Thompson's water seal with stain. Don't do this. Use this paint and lay it on liberally. Used a brush, that took forever, but looks amazing. Prepped with power washer.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Don't do this to yourself. I used this on the concrete floor of my screened-in porch. Someone at Home Depot assured me it wouldn't require a primer. I put down two coats and gave it a few weeks to dry before moving furniture in. And now there are scratches everywhere. Set down and pick up a piece of lightweight furniture? Scratch. Walk on it in hard-soled shoes? Scratch. Look at it the wrong way? Scratch. I can't imagine using this outside and expecting it to stand up to the elements. Now all I can do is put down rugs and look for a better product to repaint with. Whatever it is, it won't be made by Behr and I won't be buying it from Home Depot.

I had a professional paint it. He sanded the wood INSIDE floor several times. Then used the proper Behr Primer. Waited more then the required time to paint over the primer. It took the paint 8 days to dry in an air conditioned house trying to keep the moisture down. Then after a few weeks of drying we walked on it. It started chipping everywhere we walked. Small chips. You can see the primer when it chips. Behr returned the money for the paint but we are out $1200 we paid the professional to paint it. Try a tougher paint. Also if we can repaint it will cost another $1200 to have it pained. We are old and cannot afford it anymore. Sad paint.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Peeling after 7 months I used Behr Porch and Patio paint to my cover deck and stairs. It hasn't been more than 7 months and it's already peeling. I did everything it instructed me to do for the prep work, rented a sander and got as much old paint off as possible. It took forever and now I have to do this process all over again. After contacting Behr, I'm in the process of getting replacement paint, primer and cleaner sent out. I sure hope it works better the second time.

I had my handyman paint my outdoor wooden ramp, stairs and spindles in July of 2016. This area gets very little traffic. I was dismayed when I walked out to this area in late March to discover that the paint was already peeling and chipping. Now, I will have to pay again to have it pressure washed and repainted! I always thought that Behr was a good quality brand. My opinion of it sure has changed!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from I Am Not Just Disappointed, I Am Angry! I have lived in my home for 34 years. It has a wooden wraparound porch that Ihave had to paint every 4 to 6 years. This is a big job and takes several weeks to completely finish when you factor in all he preparation time. In the beginning I used Pergament Paint. When Pergament went out of business I switched to McCloskys Porch Paint. I have never had to repaint more frequently than every 4 years. When I was ready to repaint in the fall of 2013, I could not find McCloskys Porch Paint so I researched for an alternative and settled on this Behr product because it had decent reviews. Guess what? It is now June 2014 and this paint is peeling like I have never seen it peel before. The amount of work I put into this project only to have to do it again 8 months later has me spitting nails.
