Answer:
Always depends on woods condition and application method. If I spray on newer wood will get actual can coverage. If I use a pad, or have rough wood 2/3 of the label coverage at best

Dear Brian,
The spread rate for this product will vary by the condition of the wood and type of wood species...pine, cedar, redwood, etc.  Some woods are more porous than others. The age of and condition of the wood will also affect the spread rate.  For the gallon container of this product, the spread rate is 200 - 400 sq. ft. for the first coat and 400 - 800 sq. ft. for the second coat.

Answer:
Hello Brian and thank you for your question.
Brian coverage greatly depends on the condition of the surface you are working on.
On the moderately aged wood one gallon will cover up to 250 -300 sf.
Hope this helps.

Answer:
Hello,
Great question. We would actually not recommend our Solid Color Stain or any of our exterior wood stains for interior applications. Exterior and interior coatings contain chemicals to inhibit the growth of mildew on the coating. The amount of mildewcide in an exterior product usually exceeds the limits allowable for use inside.
Best wishes,
Kevin

Hi cmberg,
Yes, the instructions for preparing the surface are listed on the can. For an easier to read version, go to Behr.com and locate the product page. From there you can access the product instructions. They are too lengthy to list here.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by This 10 year paint lasts 1 year maybe 2 before it needs to be redone on deck floor. This 10 year paint lasts 1 year maybe 2 before it needs to be redone on deck floor. I had this paint professionally applied on a deck that gets average use in the summertime. 4 parties a year.. Memorial day, Labor day and 2 or so cocktail parties a summer. The deck looked good the first year summer (the paint was applied that spring). Over that winter the deck floor paint started chipping and pealing. By the time the second summer started the deck needed to be redone. However I put off redoing the deck that year. Now its the spring of 3rd year and the deck is missing at lease 20% of the over 625sq feet of floor and horizontal railing coverage due to chipping and pealing. Just know if you use this paint you will have to redo your deck every other year. If you want the deck to look good every year you will have to redo the deck every year. May 25, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by bad product, lasted at most 2 years Stop buying it Home Depot is doing us DIYers a disservice by selling us this product. They say that they are working with the manufacturer on trying to fix these issues while continuing to sell the product. I used this product on a unstained deck 10 months after installing it. the product began peeling/wearing off by year one, by year two it needs to be redone. It was cleaned and prepared before using this product but this did not make a difference. I will admit it seems to do well on vertical surfaces, but on Horizontal surfaces it does not last. Read the other reviews, i am not the only one with an issue. I spoke with a Behr rep which asked me every thing but the moon phase to get me to beleive that i had messed it up some how. At least relabel the product to indicate it only lasts 2 years on decks. May 23, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Longest lasting stain available. We use about 100 gallons of this per month and have found it is the longest lasting, most hail-resistent, waterproof stain available, tho it should retail for at least 10%-15% less when bought in 5-gallon buckets! I question whether it will really last 25 years on a fence, but if it only lasts 20 I will be satisfied for spending the extra money. The labor is the same no matter what stain you use so why do the job 4x over 20 years? February 4, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Didn't last a year Worked hard cleaning and prepping our deck last year and wanted a good stain for it to keep it in good condition. Used this stain and in less than a year it started peeling up. WASTED money and time. June 14, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Nice Job on Pergola and Deck I have used this product several times and have found it to be easy to use and prov ides good coverage. I use the Pinto White on my Pergola and Cedar on my Deck. Solid colors do a wonderful job of covering wood surfaces and last for quite a while. Recommend using this product. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Didn't make it through one winter Bought this product, as well as the pre-washes. Followed all of the instructions for washing, drying, and coats to a T. After our first winter, spring comes around and now everything is peeling. It also warped many of our boards. I would not recommend. 10 years must really be a stretch, as we didn't even make it 10 months... [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] June 22, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Premium Solid Deck Stain Purchased 5 gallons of California Rustic Premium Deck Stain and applied 2 weeks ago. Application is very easy. Look is great and if history is a guide I should get 10+ years before having to re-stain. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] June 22, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Still going strong Behr Premium was applied to a 25 year old deck. This was the first solid color stain applied. Previous semi trans stains were applied every three to five years. The Behr Premium has been on for four years and still is solid, not pealing and washes clean with a hose. Very pleased with this product. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] June 22, 2016
