Answer:
If you are planning to use this Behr paint, don't bother because it will begin to peel within a couple of months whether you prime or not.

Answer:
behr porch and patio paint will go over primed or already painted wood. if wood is "bare" then you will need to apply a good exterior primer before painting. if it wood is already painted, then just clean the paint with a pressure washer. let it dry and start painting.

Answer:
Hi Corvetteman,
The must important step is preparation.
Make sure the floor is clean and dry with no loose or pealing paint.
Sand to remove any sheen, a primer while not necessary, will enhance the finished project by promoting better adhesion of the paint.

Answer:
use a decent quality acrylic, exterior primer. helpful hint. you can get the primer tinted the color you intend to paint with for free at home depot. believe me , the tinted primer will be worth it because your first coat of paint will look great. usually no need for a 2nd coat.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Don't do this to yourself. I used this on the concrete floor of my screened-in porch. Someone at Home Depot assured me it wouldn't require a primer. I put down two coats and gave it a few weeks to dry before moving furniture in. And now there are scratches everywhere. Set down and pick up a piece of lightweight furniture? Scratch. Walk on it in hard-soled shoes? Scratch. Look at it the wrong way? Scratch. I can't imagine using this outside and expecting it to stand up to the elements. Now all I can do is put down rugs and look for a better product to repaint with. Whatever it is, it won't be made by Behr and I won't be buying it from Home Depot. July 16, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by easy on, easy off Terrible. Applied to newly built porch. PT wood was primed, and the paint was peeling off after less than three months. March 6, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by behr porch and patio applied this to my outdoor wood patio 3 years ago. of course, outdoor painting is not ideal and I would prefer to stain but it was already painted so no choice. It did cover well and liked the color. and it did dry to the touch in a few hours. (note; it takes 3 days to before you can use like normal and 4 weeks before you can scrub it with soap) unfortunately, it didn't wear so well. seems to attract dirt and was hard to clean. surprisingly , I had to repaint because I could no longer get it clean , not because it was peeling. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by I Am Not Just Disappointed, I Am Angry! I have lived in my home for 34 years. It has a wooden wraparound porch that Ihave had to paint every 4 to 6 years. This is a big job and takes several weeks to completely finish when you factor in all he preparation time. In the beginning I used Pergament Paint. When Pergament went out of business I switched to McCloskys Porch Paint. I have never had to repaint more frequently than every 4 years. When I was ready to repaint in the fall of 2013, I could not find McCloskys Porch Paint so I researched for an alternative and settled on this Behr product because it had decent reviews. Guess what? It is now June 2014 and this paint is peeling like I have never seen it peel before. The amount of work I put into this project only to have to do it again 8 months later has me spitting nails. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Worked Fabulous on Activity Court Made our activity court look like new. Easy to apply and it dries quickly! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] June 22, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Don't buy, bubbles up when it rains, peels off. Do not buy this paint. I bought it for my brand new deck. Within in the first year, it bubbled up in huge places every time it rained. I could peel the paint off with my fingers. I assumed it was something I did wrong when I painted it. So next spring bought more and painted the deck again. Same thing. I could spray the deck with a garden hose and it would peeloff. I did some googling to see why it was doing this. Turns out lots of other people using Behr paint had this same problem. After hundreds of dollars and hours of work, I now have to paint again for the third year in a row and will never buy another Behr product. May 11, 2015
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Behr 6300 paint I had no choice in what paint to buy as where I live there are rules & regulations & the color I wanted is only offered with this brand. I am very disappointed as it didn't last 6 months before the paint started coming off my deck! I wish I could go to another brand but due to the specific color I am forced to buy more of this same brand! This paint is not cheap either!! June 24, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great product for the worn out deck!! The paint is thick, but goes on great and 1 year later it is still looking like it did when we first painted it!!! Great product for decks!! Would highly recommend! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] June 22, 2016
