Answer:
Hello JCPick,
Great question. Although, technically you can apply the 3rd coat of the low-lustre sealer, we would not recommend it. Since the 2 finishes are different, we are not certain what the final finish would look like.
Best regards,
Kevin

Hi Martina,
Thanks for writing in! It's safe to use the Low Lustre Sealer on the fireplace, as long as the surface won't get too hot to touch. Good luck on your project! Best, Jeanette P.

Answer:
Hello GK,
Thanks for your question! We've actually found that this sealer can be applied to garage floors and over our concrete stains and paints to offer extra protection. This sealer is made to be able to stand up to vehicle traffic (please park on cardboard for two weeks following application). Please be sure to follow all label instructions for best results.
Well wishes for your project!

Answer:
Not if you're going to drive/park cars in your garage. Hot tire pick-up will ruin your floor in days. Garage floors used for vehicles require much heavier duty stains and sealers/clears. I would only recommend using Eagle One Acid Stain and Clear Gloss on garage floors (I have done two high-end garages that way for clients). After a year the clear is still holding up, even in freezing climates.

Customer Reviews

1-gal. Low-Lustre Sealer is rated 2.6 out of 5 by 58.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good product if you don't glop it on We have a Chicago apartment built in 1918. There's an interior sunroom that has a poured concrete floor tinted red and stamped to look like tile. It was painted many times over the last 100 years. We used Smart Strip to strip off the paint, then rented a floor scrubber to sand off the remaining paint that the concrete had absorbed and that the stripper couldn't get at. Big rinse with clear water, and two days later (dry time in humid summer weather) we were ready to coat with this product. I read all of the reviews here and so was aware of the problems people were encountering. We had no issues with this product at all. We brushed it on -- had to because we needed to work it into the faux grout lines. We did a thin coat so that the product looked wet, but not white, as we moved along. It dried quickly and we are very pleased with the outcome. We are thinking we'll stop here at one coat because the finish is so nice on your feet, and the light playing on it is very warm and inviting. We love how the floor now looks and feels! We bought a gallon - only size available - and we used maybe 2 cups of it on our 9'x8' floor. So - go with a thin coat and build up with thin coats and you shouldn't have the milky nightmare some of run into. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Hard to use, Directions are vague. I have used Behr semi transparent stain for concrete for several years with good results. This time I decided to add a sealer low lustre to it. This product is not user friendly. The directions say to add a thin coat but, that is a matter of interpretation I added what I considered to be a thin coat and it looked great till it rained. . It turned white & sudsy looking. I wish I would have stuck with the paint and skipped the sealer. I suggest if you chose to use this product put a micro amount down first in a small area and test the process. After drying wet it to see if the distribution is correct and there is no discoloration. Then proceed. Directions are not clear and in general terms. Good luck. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worked great for me! I don't get all the reviews I'm reading. I moved into a 8 year old house in 2014 and the pressed concrete patio looked like it never had any maintenance. The grey stain was gone except the edge and had zero coating. I bought the Behr low-lustre without any reviews-just looked like what I wanted and Behr name recognition. I applied it with a roller. It is milky in cracks but it goes away-you can help it along by daubing out the pools with a brush or rag. TWO YEARS later-still looks good. Since then I added on to the patio with UniLock pavers in grey and tan. After reading the reviews I took the leftover sealer and tested it-works fine. Maybe people are putting it on too thick? I'm going to buy some more today.

Key is to use it sparingly, mop off excess in the cracks. Make sure prior sealer was also water based, to avoid whitening.( Do a patch test before. I don't think this will work on rough stone or pavers, since the solution will seep in and "whiten"). I used a broad microfiber mop, and wiped off the excess also with a microfiber cloth. Was very easy. First layer dried a bit dull, second layer, which I applied 2 hours later dried with a slight sheen as mentioned on the product. Very happy with it, my pool patio looks great. I was a bit worried by all the negative reviews.

I bought this product on the advice of the salesperson in thepaint department, and wish I had read the reviews first. This is quite possibly the worst product of its kind. I followed the directions, scrubbed then even pressure washed the cement in advance. I waited till it dried, then applied with a roller on the horizontal surfaces, and brushed on the vertical. I recoated as per the directions, and left for 24 hours. I am still waiting for it to dry. Each time it rains, the "sealer" turns milky white and washes even further away. As the area "sealed" in the entry way into the house, it gets tracked inside as well. Useless.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Slippery I applied 3 coats of the Low-Lustre sealer on my concrete basement floor in the laundry room. This is Day 1 of complete drying/curing time. It is slick. Behr said slippery when wet, but how about when it is dry. WOW. I read a review for the non-skid floor additive, which said don't add to sealer. So how do I make it non-slippery? Dilemmas. I wish I would have read these reviews before I bought and used this product! It does indeed leave a milky appearance after a couple of months of exposure to sun and rain. It looked good at first but now it looks terrible!
