Customer Questions & Answers

Is it uv resistant

Asked by: JGarcia
Absolutely not! It will fade before you get your brushes cleaned!

Can I use this paint on brick pillars and wood porch rails? Also does it require a primer coat?

It says self priming, also says primer needed? I am looking to rehab an old porch with brick, concrete, and wood. I would like to use one product and only have to do it once.
Asked by: Suede
I do not recommend this product as it will fade very quickly. In less than one year my house is a different color and the leftover paint does not match. Never mind the primer, that did not help whether you use it or not since I used it in some areas and not others. Same fading issue all over.

Can this be used on basement concrete floors? If so, what sort of floor preparation is required?

Hello, Our Interior/Exterior Masonry, Stucco and Brick Paint is not designed to receive foot traffic and we would not recommend it on a floor. A great paint to use would be our Porch & Patio Floor Paint. Best regards, Kevin

is this product fireproof?

We are building a firepit in our backyard using cement block. Can we coat this paint on cement block to resist heat from the fire?
Asked by: Karen
Hi Karen, Thanks for your question! The Masonry Stucco and Brick Paint is not resistant to fire. Typically, if the surface will get too hot to touch, then it's considered too hot to paint with Behr paint. Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause. Best wishes on your project! Sincerely, Jeanette P.

1-gal. #MS-89 Folkstone Flat Interior/Exterior Masonry, Stucco and Brick Paint is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 31.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Out performed a Hurricane Last spring I bought 40 gallons of this paint and shipped it to St. Jean du Sud, Haiti to be used to paint their church. Last month Hurricane Matthew hit the village destroying or heavily damaging 90% of the structures. The church rood was ripped from the building, but the Behr stucco paint held to the walls without damage. While the rood is being replaced there is no need to repaint the building. Thanks, Behr. I am sure that we will be buying more Behr paint to ship to Haiti in the coming months. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Compliments from Neighbors on Quality of Paint Job It is one thing when we stand back and marvel at a good DIY job on your house. It is something else altogether when neighbor after neighbor and others in your housing development offer up unsolicited, genuine comments. I remodeled and repainted the entire outside of my 1980s ranch style stucco finish FL home using all Behr paints. I used Behr semi-glass ultra pure white for the trim; it brought it back to life. I used Behr Exterior Satin Enamel Autumn Tan to cover fiberboard over the garage and window trim. For the stucco finish I applied Masonry, Stucco, and Brick paint medium base in Sandstone Beige to cover a soft pastel pink that covered the entire house. I even dared myself to get creative and painted an "accent" stucco wall with Autumn Tan in Stucco paint. The stucco finish only required one coat; I used a very rough surface roller cover which worked ideally getting into the nooks and crannies of stucco. The fiberboard surfaces took two coats since the boarding was brand new. Due to the remodeling and repainting I have had several neighbors who have said that the paint job stands out and in all I updated the house 20 years to the 2000's. Now, my next project: my ranch style clapboard style house in NC. I already bought the Behr paint for inside and outside. Road trip! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Do not buy this paint!!!! In the spring and summer of 2015 I painted the exterior stucco of my house with this paint. I used one-5 gallon container and 2/3 of a second 5-gallon container in a light cream color. In the summer of 2016 we did some exterior remodeling requiring touch-up of some stucco, including some large areas about 5' x 8'. The paint from the container did not match the existing stucco color from 2015. Several of the touch-up areas do not ever get direct sunlight. When I took back my container and a piece of stucco the paint desk associates agreed the paint no longer matched. The paint desk Assistant Manager agreed to give me a 1-gallon container of paint that would match the new stucco color, saying that my entire house paint had faded to a light yellow, perfectly even on all sides, including shaded areas, in just one year. Not only is the 20 year warranty not honored but the color is not UV nor fade resistant for even a short period of time. Now when I touch-up the new stucco with the new color is it going to fade? Think I will leave one area painted with the original color to see how long it takes to fade to match the original painted stucco from 2015. Home Depot does not care that I spent a great deal of time selecting what I thought would be the perfect color for my stucco only to have it change to a different color inside of one year. The odd think is that I asked the paint associate, at the time of purchasing the first 10 gallons of paint, why is stucco paint so special. The answer - because it is more fade resistant. The other odd thing is that I first bought a sample paint pot of several colors and tested them. Once I decided on the color that I liked I used the sample paint container up, not wanting to waste it. Now that the stucco paint has faded, the paint from the sample container shows up and never faded. Do NOT buy stucco paint! Whatever paint is used for the sample containers does not fade.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Masonry and stucco paint on brown stone I live in the north east where some town houses are brownstone. The front of my house is all brown stone and was painted more than 20 years ago a few shades of what I'd call a greenish gray. I was able to match this paint to paint the stoop and touch up a few areas. The match is great. The paint covered very well. No problems there. The back of the house is mostly brick. The sills are brownstone. Since the sills have been painted before as well as badly stained and patched with cement I felt the best thing to do would be to just paint it the stones color. A sort of reddish brown. Goes nicely with the red brick. The problem... Even though the value is about the same as the color used on the front I can't get the masonry paint in this dark a color. Must have something to do with the red hue. Hey Behr... How about a deep base in masonry paint for us people who live in brownstones and want brownstone brown paint. Other than that I love Behr products and use them all the time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great on stucco and mortar I used this paint on the stucco walls on the 2nd floor of my home and it covered beautifully. I also had a can matched to my mortar color to touch up visible caulk around the 1st floor window casings which are set into stone after painting the window casings and it hid the white caulk perfectly making ti blend into the stucco around the window. It does take some getting used to as it is thick and stringy which makes it difficult not to drip when moving the brush toward the surface to be painted.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It's Always Midnight In My Backyard We have a large and unsightly stucco retaining wall in our rear yard. About 10 years ago I was inspired to paint it a bright cobalt blue (using Behr paint, of course, that is the only paint I use) As the wall gets a fair amount of sun, I was concerned about fading. And yes, fade it did. AFTER 10 YEARS! Earlier this summer I repainted it with Behr Masonry, Stucco, & Brick paint. I used a quality Home Depot roller and chose "Midnight Blue" for the color this time. I'm thrilled with the results! My plants and garden art "pop" against this beautiful color and my formerly boring wall is now a focal point of the yard. I wish I was able to post pictures for all to enjoy!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product and quality for an unbeatable price! I'm a master painter of trade and have been using several products throughout my +30 years of experience. I have been using this particular product from Behr for the past 8 years. I have been using it for exterior stucco, brick and masonry and it bonds really well and has an end result I'm looking for as a professional. Not only does it bond well on these surfaces, but with exterior work and overlapping wood work, it seams to perform well in this matter too. I even used it on my own house and after 7 years....It looks great!! Behr have been a brand for quality and serve me well as for the convenience for me and my business. Dumb Up for this one and good luck with your project!! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
