Hello Wes,
Thank you for your interest in our products. Our Semi-Transparent Stain is only designed for uncoated concrete surfaces and we would not recommend applying it to a previously painted concrete. We would recommend removing the rest of the painted concrete before applying our stain.
Best regards,
Kevin

Hi Marc,
We appreciate your interest in our concrete stains. Unfortunately our concrete floor coatings are not available in sample sizes. The smallest size this concrete stain comes in is a gallon can. Good luck with your project! - Sara

1-gal. No.STC-23 Moroccan Dunes Semi-Transparent Concrete Stain is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 22.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Prep and Prime I've been a floor coating contractor for over 40 years. This product will perform as promoted, but you MUST follow all the directions re. prep and priming to avail yourself of the advertised properties. In addition I would recommend a clear coat for maximum splash and spill protections. I get the best results applying with an HVLP gun, and the results can be FANTASTIC!!! Rated 4 out of 5 by from Overall very good It really looks great when first applied, and remains good looking in most areas painted except high traffic areas and high sun areas. These two areas, high traffic and high sun, need a fresh coat at least every other year. The remaining surface looks good for at least three or four years. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good product Definitely a lot of money but you get what you pay for for sure. Take your time and read and re-read instructions. Goes on MUCH easier with a roller than a sprayer. 2 & 3 coats does best. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from LOVE this concrete stain! Transformed an ugly basement floor into a beauty! I love the new look! Used one of the reviews (Thanks, BellaBee) as a guide, and prepped first, then rag-rolled colors on. Besides using Loden, Warm Shale, and Chicory, I also used Water Stone and Dark Charcoal. It's important to note there are no specks in the paint as the samples show. Applied the Wet-Look Sealer which makes the floor shine and is impervious to scratching. I've slid heavy furniture around, with no scratch marks!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Stain For Driveway I originally applied this stain on my driveway (2 coats) and walkway 2 years ago after acid washing and pressure washing. It went on very easily and lasted well except for a couple of spots on some new concrete that pealed off because of RV tires. I recently put on two more coats and it came out fantastic. I changed the lines in the driveway and walkway to a darker shade which looked much better than the lighted stain before. I used the English Brick on the large areas and the Natural Henna on the lines. I have pictures on the Behr - home depot website review.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Semi=Transparent Patio Stain After much research, I chose to stain my patio with the BEHR concrete stain instead of painting. Since the concrete patio was already porous, I washed and rinsed the patio and let it dry thoroughly. I wanted my patio to have the appearance of large rocks instead of just the somewhat plain look of a concrete floor. I drew off patterns for the rocks using a charcoal color paint and a small fan brush used for painting landscapes. Once that was dry, I applied the BEHR primer. The primer was allowed to dry about 3 hours. I then applied two coats of the BEHR stain and allowed that to dry thoroughly (overnight). The next morning I applied the sealer, still using a roller to apply the sealer, and the patio is absolutely beautiful. I didn't move my furniture back on the patio for four days. I have had so many wonderful comments on my patio that it is unbelievable and it was not much work at all. I did change rollers at intervals throughout the process. The patio is absolutely gorgeous! Rated 5 out of 5 by from Favorite room in the house! We pretty much did everything by Behr instructions and the results are amazing! When we pulled up our carpet, the floors didn’t have glue on it. It looks like there was once a floor down that was glued, but there was no glue on the floor this time. There, however, was platters and spills of paint and product where they blew the ceiling. The small paint spots came up with the etching, a little bit of scrapping but the large spill did not, even after etching twice. We should have done the paint stripper, but we opted to sand cause it was just one large spot, not the whole floor. The cleaner and etching was a job! This product goes a long way, really. The only problem we had here on the first two sections we done was us adding to much product to the floors. The more I mopped, the more it seemed to foam up. It took a lot of cleaning before I finally got it all up. Not many will be able to do this, but I ended up getting a squeegee from Home Depot, our shop vac, and the water hose. After the product sit it allotted time, I used the water hose on low stream to clean the etching off the floor. I turned the shop vac on and tilted it in a way to suck up the water without me holding it. I used the squeegee to get it all suck up. After figuring that all out, it went by faster. We let dry the time it said, but I think we could have started bonding sooner. Next came the Behr bonding primer. We put on with a roller, EASY as painting! No issues here, let dry according to the instructions. Lastly the stain. First issue we had, not with the stain but the sprayer we got from Home Depot, it was awful. The nozzle didn’t work worth a flip. I think if we had fanned the color on, it would have looked nice, so if you are wanting the swirly look of colors, light and dark, get a good sprayer!! Not the one HD recommends or has over in the stain department. After the sprayer wouldn’t work, we just used a roller, which is fine, made the color more even. In my picture, that is 3 coats of stain. The floor we did was 20x12, 240SF. We used One bottle of etcher, one can of primer, and one can of stain. Had not been for the sprayer, we got a beautiful floor for under $100 and in only 3 days. I’ve already recommended it to several, and some are going to try it. I’m eager to see how it will weather the traffic, spills, dogs, and all normal everyday activities. I am pleased with the ease of the product and most definitely the outcome. My floor is gorgeous! Rated 5 out of 5 by from Semi-Transparent Concrete Stain is AWESOME! Just finished our basement floor with the Behr Semi-Transparent stain and are amazed with the results! This is the first time we tried a concrete project like this and we were hesitant to do it ourselves. After reading reviews online and researching the products available, we decided to give the Behr product line a try. 1. First we used the Cleaner/Degreaser, which worked easy and did a nice job. 2, Next was the Cleaner/Etching process which was our least favorite part of the job. We had to etch twice to get the concrete porous enough to let the stain soak in. It is critical to continue to rinse floor with clean water. A shop vac was most important to remove the etching and water used to rinse the floor. The floor dried for several days. 3. We then water tested to make sure our concrete was dry and ready for stain by taping a 4'x4' sheet of plastic to the floor for 24 hours to see if water droplets appeared under it. We had no moisture, so we were ready to move forward. We did not use the Bonding Primer because we did not want to achieve a uniform look, but rather a random/aged look to the floor, just like a true acid stain would do. 4. Next came our favorite part, the staining process! We used three colors and applied with rags to achieve a Tuscan-aged look. We saw techniques for this online and it was really simple - like rag rolling the stain on. We loved all the imperfections in our floor and even created more by adding veining, faux cracks, and random droplets of stain. First we applied Loden (Brown) to the entire floor with a rag, next we rag rolled over it with Warm Shale (Yellow/Orange) , then we applied Chickory (Red) randomly with the rag - this color is really red so we had to be careful not to apply too much. Lastly we applied random droplets of Loden. 5. After 12 hours, we applied two topcoats of the low luster product. It went on milky but dried clear and smooth within 4 hours after each coat. The floor is beautiful and looks like a very expensive acid stained finish done by a professional. It cost us $1 a square foot to achieve this amazing look by doing the labor ourselves and purchasing the Behr product line from Home Depot. It will last a very long time, I even "tested" an area to see if I could remove the stain with a razor blade. I was very pleased to see that the stain did not budge; it was soaked into and a permanent part of our concrete! The Behr Hotline was very helpful with giving advice. I did need to call a few time to ask about the etching and whether to use the Bonding Primer; the folks were very helpful!
