Jack, I cannot say this is specifically for a basement, however, I used the porch and patio paint in my basement. It is holding up very well.

Can you use this product on composite like Trex?

Asked by: Spatt22
Hi Spatt22, Thanks for writing in with your question. Yes, you can use our Porch and Patio Floor Paint on composite decking. Make sure to clean with the All-in-One Wood Cleaner, (No. 63) and prime with the Multi-Surface Interior/Exterior Primer and Sealer, (No. 436). Good luck with your project! Regards, Giovanna

Deck Over vs Porch and Patio floor paint

I was just recently told about Deck Over.. Would you say that "regular" Porch and Patio floorpaint would give me the same supposed good results as Deck Over? I will be repainting an old deck and the concrete floor on my porch..Thanks
Asked by: jadesothermimi
DO NOT use the Deck Over paint! Myself as well as everyone I know that have used it, it is junk and won't last longer than a season. My husband is currently sanding the remaining deck over paint off our deck and just staining it. The deck over paint was terrible and peeled off only after one summer. We used the porch paint on our front steps and it has held up much better than the deck over.

Do I need to make it more water repellent after paint dries. Would it damage paint.

Asked by: Theresa
Hi Theresa, Thanks for your question. This paint is a durable, stand-alone product, so applying an additional water repellent product on top isn't necessary. Best wishes for your project! - Sara

1-gal. #PFC-68 Silver Gray Low-Lustre Porch and Patio Floor Paint is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 50.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Old Sheet Vinyl Floor Fix After cleaning the floor withTSP, I applied two coats of primer, two coats of Behr Porch and Patio floor paint in silver gray low lustre, and one coat of the ultra white gloss porch and patio floor paint stenciled on top. I had to order the paint online to get these colors and finishes. The paint was easy to apply with rollers and had little odor. I followed the guidelines for drying times. You can recoat after 4-6 hours depending on climate and need to wait 72 hours before normal use. I thought this would be a good interim fix until it is time to install a new floor. I am very satisfied with results.

The problem is that I repainted half of my basement with a can of Behr porch and floor paint from several years ago and went to buy more to finish and it's no longer sold in store. So I typed in the four digit code online and was given this as the ONLY result. The code is different but the brand and color name (silver gray) and type of paint are the same. As I finished my work and the paint dried I realized the COLORS DON"T MATCH!!! I now have a basement floor with two different tones of gray!! I'm not starting over from scratch so this is going to have to do for years to come until I repaint it with all ONE color! Very disappointed!

I ordered two gallons on line, because the store no longer carried the "Silver Gray" color. When I painted my floor, the colors did not match, what was supposed to be a "touch up" product, turned into an entire paint job. The paint is good, I'll buy it again, however I am disappointed the colors did not match.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Better than stain!!! After properly cleaning and applying the multi-surface primer and sealer as recommended, the porch and patio paint applied easily, dried fast and so far withstood hot summer sun and winter snow and ice. Also remarkably withstood our small dog's urination on the staircases. The nonskid floor finish additive greatly reduced slipping with rain, ice and snow. Wonderful product, will definitely use again. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lasting Durability We all know how outdoor decks can be a high maintence item (especially in a climate like Minnesota). I was looking for an alternative to staining every year or two. In addition, the cracks in my deck boards were getting wider/deeper, wood-knots were falling out, etc. After considering options, I decided to try the Behr Porch & Patio Floor Paint. As you can see in the attached picture ... the results are excellent. It is worth noting that this picture was taken THREE YEARS AFTER APPLICATION, and it still looks great. Also worth noting is that I took the time to thoroughly prep the deck boards by using an exterior grade filler to repair the cracks and knot holes. My next project will be my garage floor. Not sure if I'll stain the concrete or use the epoxy paint, but will definitely be looking at the Behr products for application.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from pool deck refresh Living in Arizona, I own a pool and the low lustre porch and patio paint has been great to refresh the textured cement deck surface around the pool. It has a superior bond and a very durable finish. Only issues I come across is the color will fade after a couple years. I would like to see the paint enhanced with UV protection and chlorinated pool water resistance. I believe this would make it an exceptional patio paint.
