Answer:
Hello and thank you for your question. Generally, you should wait about 1 month for the wood to completely dry out. If you have a moisture meter test it in a few spots and make sure the reading is below 12%. The most important thing is for the wood to be completely dry. Be sure to follow all back label instructions, and best of luck on your project!

Customer Reviews

Rated 4.0 out of 5 by 132 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Redwood weatherproofing I love this product. You do need to on two coats but it is excellent. July 19, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Far from Redwood I wish I had read some of the reviews before choosing this color & brand. I totally agree with others that the color has an orange tint to it. Also agree that it doesn't penetrate the wood as a stain should, but simply coats the wood like a latex paint. So disappointing, spent the entire weekend power washing & staining my two decks. I hate it so much that now I'll have to use a solid color deck stain just to cover up this eye sore! Another weekend shot! July 5, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Note: It's NOT "Redwood", it's ORANGE I put one coat of this product on raw cedar wood lawn edging, and was horrified at the color. Although it is "semi-transparent", it completely covered the natural wood color in one coat. Since it is non-refundable, I am stuck with a gallon of high-quality, Orange weatherproofing stain. Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by It's orange From the name and the sample I assumed I would be painting my porch I shade of red But it went on Laurens it also took more than a week to completely dry in my porch felt tacky the whole time. I'm not in love with the color but am not displeased enough to restrain the porch. This product does not cover as well as it states. What should have taken less than 2 gallons required 4. It also did not go on evenly. Some portions of my deck are a different texture and color. It almost looks chalky in spots. June 21, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Best for the money! I bought the 6-8 year stain because it is the best, but I forgot that the three to five year stuff is just as good for fence staining. If you are staining a rustic fence you can use the 3 to 5 year stain and it will age gracefully! I know because I did just that in Colorado years ago. That 3-5 year stain looked good for about 6 or 7 years and when I stained my fence seven years later it still looked better than all my neighbors before I stained it. I stained it again because I was selling the house. So on rustic fences it lasts and lasts and lasts. May 18, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by It is bright! So i just electric spray painted the fence with my $20 gun which worked fantastically! No clogging.. I did not prep any of the wood except high pressure water wash it as it was new. Well one month.. i was told to let it the new wood dry out first. This wood is the cheaper rough cut kind and not smooth so perhaps i get a different result then others in these reviews. It went on very well and no blotching.. I was surprised how bright and orange it was! more then i anticipated.. and it says two coats so after a couple of hours i put another on. If i could go back i probably would have chosen a more subtle color but i figured my wood was redwood so i guess the color redwood makes sense.. i do like how it makes my plants really pop out though.. it actually looks not so bad. just not what i was expecting.. it will be very bright on the street and hope my neighbors don't mind.. as far as how long this lasts will be determined in time and i will update in the future. I feel with the kind of wood i have this will last a long time.. there is a guarantee on it so those who complain, i hope you are taking up the offer. I am trusting that the label of 8 yrs is correct but lets see.. here are some pictures of the fence before and after.. perhaps i should have done a transparent.. oh well. whats done is done. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by NOT the same color as Redwood Behr Stain I have purchased before I decided to step it up a notch this time and purchase the longer lasting 6-year deck, 8 year railing. I applied it to my deck after using Behr stripper and Behr wood renewing product. Wow. It is orange. Not sure what happened at the factory but I do not have the energy to strip this all back off, and it does not go with my gray house. I will be painting the deck instead. July 15, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great look Great color for a great price. Would buy their products again. June 24, 2014
